how did you force new fluid up the drain plug?
Ha. Guess I asked for that. To clarify, I drained the fluid by removing the drain plug, and refilled thru the dipstick tube.
Changed the AT fluid in daughter's '03 Civic yesterday. Boy it that an easy DIY project. All you need is a 3/8" ratchet and a drain pan. ( A youtube video shows how easy).
Took out 3 qts. dark brown fluid, replaced with 3 qts. DW-1. First drain and fill with 84,500 miles. I'm so ashamed. I'll do another D&F in about 1,000 miles to try and catch up.
Doing a bit of an experiment with this one to get some feedback for the lads at Motul NZ. So far it's proving to be surprisingly drivable when cold. On the sub 10°C/50°F mornings its a bit stiff for the first few miles, but when its hot its amazingly smooth. Motul makes some quality products thats for sure.
33,991 miles since last service. Toyota dealer has always done a flush. I am going to start doing a drain and fill about every 15k to 30k. I think that should be a good interval. Fluid isn't dirty or burnt.
Dropped the pan on the 05 3500 Chevy Chassis with 6.0L/4L80E combo 27k. What a royal pain thankfully the last time since I put in a drain plug. Reused the factory gasket.
Out I'm guessing Factory Fill
In - Valvoline Maxlife 7.5+ quarts.. not sure if it's full yet. The book list 7.7 quarts. It's on a slight incline hoping that's what it is.
Drained out VW 060 for Redline MT-90. I was experiencing notchy and crunching 1st gear when hot with the OEM MTF for my 2000 VW Jetta hence I went with the thicker 75W90 of the RL.
2003 Toyota Tacoma reg. cab 5spd manual 4x4. 99,000 miles
Changed out what I believe was the factory fluid for Redline Racing Oil's Shockproof lightweight. Specs call for 75w90 GL4.
I was experiencing notchy shifts. Also changed out the transfer case which specs 75w90. This stuff is awesome in gear cases.
No more notchiness and I expect I'll change it in 50K miles.
Also had a pint left over so I dumped it into left-over partial gallon of cheap supertech 80W90 syn blend and pumped that into both axles. Synthetics/synblend for less than $75 4WD service.
