I am about to do an oil change on 10.5 HP Briggs from around 1992 that powers a Toro rear engine mower. I inherited it a few years ago and this winter got around to doing some maintenance on it. I took the carb off and cleaned it thoroughly and it seemed to need it as it was very dirty and had lots of varnish. I also took the head off and cleaned the carbon off the head and piston and around the valves. Valves were in great shape as well as the cylinder wall, and the engine doesn't burn any oil at all. Valve clearances were also within factory specs.

Now that I am happy with everything, I am about to put it back together and refill with oil. I am in Florida so I am going to use straight 30w as Briggs recommends for temps over 40F. The straight 30w's in the stores around my town that I found are Valvoline 30, Pennzoil 30, and Castrol HD 30.

Is there anything wrong with any of these, or is any one of them fine to use? I seem to recall seeing a few posts on here in the past about Castrol HD 30 being junk. Also, is the Pennzoil bottle I showed the same as HD 30 as shown below. The first picture I posted doesn't say HD (heavy duty), so I am not sure if the oil is the same in the two bottles. Thanks for any help, I am hoping this mower lasts for awhile and want to treat it right.

Craftsman L&G tractor, 22HP Kohler. Out Delo 15w40 and Puro Classic, in, Delo 30 weight and Motorcraft FL910. Craftsman push mower, new, B&S 7.25 HP, Delo 30 weight. Honda GX-160 powered pressure washer. Out, RP 10w40, in Delo 30 weight. BTW, I used the new push mower yesterday. It's one of B&S quiet series engines. That thing runs very smooth, is super quiet (VERY neighborhood friendly) and did not stall or bog down once in thick grass. A huge improvement over my old Lawn-Boy with the commercial 5 HP 2 stroke. Any BITOG takers for the Lawn-Boy in the Saint Louis area? Shoot a PM.
