My 98 Corvette had an OLM. GM started using it on the Corvette in 1990
My 98 Firebird Formula did not have one though.

My in-laws had a 98 Eldorado that had an oil life monitor.
A quick search reveals that, according to AI, GM pioneered the oil life monitor in the late 80s in Cadillacs and Corvettes.

Out- PUP 0w40/ Mopar Filter
In- M1 0w40/ STP XL Filter
14,498 miles. 2,916 miles and 8 months on interval. Was very surprised to see that the dealer used a Mopar filter. Last vehicle I purchased there they used a Mighty branded one.
Love this truck! Haven't even put 3,000 miles on it since Black Friday but a joy every time I get behind the wheel

That's interesting -- My 99 Firebird had one. I don't think it gave a percentage, but it did go off based on the OLM algorithm rather than a set mileage.
Oh on the contrary here, you will be applauded for going up a grade. Good choice.

Definitely is. VRP is their top oil. EP doesn’t clean any deposits but will form them. VRP will keep your engine free of deposits for life and provide outstanding wear protection.

A family member did the last oil change as I was out of town. They didn’t write down the mileage so I don’t know precisely time on oil. It was nice and black when it came out though. And I know what was in it.
Out Pennzoil Plat Euro LX 0W30 and a new style Amsoil EA15K01 with plastic end caps and metal crimp seam.
Mileage at time of change 345,397KM
In 4.4 QTs Amsoil SS (old formula and all New old stock) 5W-30 circa 2023 and an old style Amsoil EA15K01 circa 2022.
Just wanted to post some picture albeit through plastic before install of the filter as well. Back when champ could make a solid filter. And this one was much more premium than their newer amsoil iterations with the plastic end caps and metal crimp seam. Love me metal ends caps and a sewn seam.

Filter stays on.
It’s quieter with the 0W-30. Still not Ford or Toyota quiet but better. Sounds less like a VW tdi anyway.
Also serviced lawnmower. Troy bilt with Honda engine.
Out: HPL CC HDMO 5W-40
In: Delo XSP 5W-40
I know it’s a downgrade but had open Delo container. Just serviced my F150 & won’t be opening another HPL until it’s due again.

And in at least 2021 from the 2 that I service, Hyundai has days and miles and lets you adjust them OR turn it off.
