2005 Honda CR-V EX w/Manual Transmission - 337,250km (209,557 Miles)

OCI - 7826km (4862 Miles). 8.5 months
Out - SuperTech 5w40 Euro & Fram Orange Can
In Mobil 1 European Car 0w40 & Castrol CAS7317 Filter
Used/leaked about 1.5 litres during this OCI

I've used Supertech 5w40 Euro for about 100,000km but it was nowhere to be found (along with most other Supertech). Finding anything heavier than 5w30 that wasn't a diesel oil was a challenge. I checked both Walmart and then Canadian Tire. Walmart is pretty much out of Fram filters and has no replacement. Canadian Tire does still have quite a few Fram but not in my size and the only alternative in stock was the Castrol....I spent about $30 more than I usually do but that's the way things are right now...

Yup. I had to buy a Castrol at CT because they no 10060 fitters in either Fram or OE Plus and they had no equivalent Wix. The Castrol was quite pricey. Next time, straight to Part Source for their OE Plus Pro.

2008 CR-V, 77K, 5,500 mile and 2 month OCI
Out: Mobil 1 5w20, Ecogard filter
In: Mobil 1 5w20, PG4612EX filter

No make up added and oil was pretty darn clean. Needs 2 tires. What's a poor boy to do?
We installed Coverado Seat covers; these things are really nice for only $110 or whatever.
77k? Dang. FWD or AWD I forget. That would be a great update to my daughters '08 CRV with 255k.

I got this perfect CR-V LX FWD for a friend who is a single Mom. She was driving a beater older Infiniti SUV that I would service. When the tires were shot, I said, that it and picked up the CR-V. I paid too much, about $9K, but she saves on registration, insurance, etc. And especially on crazy expensive CA gas. It came with Honda cargo liner and more. Elsa is making me payments for now. She loves her Honda.

You are a really good guy. You take care of a lot of people in your life.

That filter housing is quite the PITA.

They had it in 1999 too, as I know the 1999 Grand Am to have it. The first car to have the OLM was in 1988, gradually phasing it in in the 90s and 2000s. GM started working on it in the 80s.
I think GM was one of the first if not the first big auto maker to do a parameter based algorithmic OLM and not just a mileage "maintenance reminder" that other makers stuck with for many years after.

Had my mechanic change the oil in my 2005 Taurus . It was at 5600 or so miles since the last change. Usually, I try to do between 4500 and 5000 but I was on a road trip.

I used my stash of 5w30 Valvoline Restore and Protect. I used to get the Carquest Premium but now I'm stuck with the Autozone filters until I get my 5 credit rewards and spend those. I was going to get the STP extended protection but the only one they had In stock was a box that was damaged and all taped up. I asked if the clerk had anything in the back and he said all he had was the Grey STP Maximum Performance so I got that for $2 more.

My mechanic said he didn't like that style: I assume because it has that different gasket that you have to tighten more? Ill ask him to clarify when I take my other car in next week for an oil change.

This will be the 4th Valvoline Restore and Protect oil change. It still needs about a quart added after 4k miles and Im still not sure if its leaking or consuming that. I assume its not all being leak bc I dont notice a huge oil spot in my assigned parking spot.
