Didn't enjoy the thought of pushing the first oil change out to threshold. Plus, this weekend seemed like a nicer time to change it than in the winter, when I'd've hit 300 hours. I plan on cutting the filter, and if it's to my liking, I'll try for a 400 hour OCI.

Expecting to make a trip towing a load in a couple of weeks, so I let go of the HPS to up the viscosity of the sump to a 30 weight. Will run 200 hours. Oil came out black, no drain stream transparency. 4.5qts seems to be the drain volume with no filter change. Also did a rear diff oil change as well. Oil came out looking like fresh, so it had been changed not long before I purchased it.

More DIY discouragement!
The dealer who did many of the earlier changes on the first motor "lost" a couple bolts and stripped 2 of the T30 Torx.
That's a lot of work just for an oil change! Definitely an argument for filter relocation and a Fumoto valve coupled to a hose...
I'll try to get pictures next time of where under skid plate. 81yo Father-in-law doesn't like to spend money on it or anything except dinner with his friend, even that he complains. His first reaction when I say stuff is cursing non stop. Yesterday was that I needed to get one of his tires plugged/patched, that was like it would be $1000 and a hassle. All he had to do was sit in his room and watch TV while I went to Costco and spent $15. Still ruined his day.

Filter relocation will not be a thing. When he goes someday, if the Renegade doesn't first, it will probably be next. Rides like crap, too short for highway by us and just non stop bucking over expansion joints. Too small inside.

Car has about 109k, motor about 27k. Oil change is now about 2x per year at about 4k with me doing it to hopefully keep burning away like first motor did on dealer maintenance minder 7500+ miles. He drives mostly around town and idles a LOT.

Makes sense. Definitely not worth adding stuff if it isn't your car!

BTW if you live near Discount Tire they typically patch a tire for free...but then you get sucked into their store and feel obligated to become a lifelong customer. That happened to me 13 years ago...

North East - Long Island NY, no Discount Tire anywhere around. My son went to one in VA and they fixed a nail/leaker for free.

We actually just went back to same store a week ago down there and bought 4 new SecureContact AW for his wife's Tucson. They matched the best price I found up here including mounting. Only issue was they "lost/misplaced" one of the 4 special ordered tires so he had to make a second trip 3 days later after waiting about 40 minutes the first time. They had called and confirmed the appointment 2 days prior.

The shop I bought them at does plug free or very cheap $$. I wanted the plug/patch combo hoping to avoid future issues with his all around town, turning, stop/starts.

'23 Santa Fe Limited 2.5T. Mobile1 0w-30 out and same thing in. 6.13 quarts. New Carquest filter. 4,000 miles on old oil. 38,500 on the car. So far zero issues.
We will need more details on the 0W-30 please. Is that the ESP or Advanced Fuel Economy version?

How are we supposed to bicker back and forth amongst ourselves without full details on why you should have used the other one instead. Seriously? ;) 🤭
