Couldn't get an oil change appointment at the Kia dealer for the next three weeks, so figured I'd take the VRP plunge at the local Walmart on 19 June. They made a big fuss about needing to install 5W20 in since that's what the oil fill cap specifies, but cheerfully agreed to install the OEM filter I brought in.
Took a long trip on Father's Day to visit my dear old Dad. Had the transmission in Sport mode the entire trip and gave the car the ol' Italian tuneup on the way home. In-dash computer showed a 0.8L/100km (4 mpg) improvement in fuel economy to 6.44L/100km (36.5 mpg) for the final 200 km of the trip. I haven't seen fuel economy numbers this good since the car was nearly new.
