Nice choices

2011 Toyota Camry LE 4 banger, 72K, 5,800 mile 5 month OCI
Out: Mobil 1 Advanced blah blah blah 0w20, Toyletta A1 filter
In: same

tire rotation and brake check; all good. This car used to belong to the lady who lived across the street from my folks; I used to visit with her and took care of her Camry. When she passed at 96 (I think) her family gave me the perfect Camry. My friend uses it. Dang thing runs and drives perfect. Helps with $5.56 rag gas.

Valvoline continues to make the Mazda happy.

Tires rotated, and for the first time since they were put on the CX5 (or an individual tire was replaced/remounted/balanced), all 4 were rebalanced.

As wasteful as it felt to dump the O'Reilly Syntec so soon, I didn't trust oil that had been in an overheated engine.

2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer
63,206 miles
186 miles on oil

Out: O'Reilly Syntec 0W-20, Microguard Select
In: 4 quarts Castrol GTX*, Fram Drive
* remaining 0.8 made up of leftover Syntec and Mobil Synthetic High Mileage
View attachment 337671Bit late posting this one up. Coolant flow control valve (over-engineered $600 thermostat) failed and the truck started overheating at freeway speed. Dumped the Valvoline Hybrid 0w-20 when I got home.

2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer
63,020 miles on vehicle
1,210 miles on oil
Out: Valvoline Full Synthetic Hybrid 0w-20, Carquest Premium
In: O'Reilly Syntec 0w-20, Microguard Select.

Seems like the car is a bit noisier on this oil. Also, the dealership test drove it twice and got the "engine overheated" warning both times, so I'll be dumping the oil again in the next few days (to be replaced with more Valvoline Hybrid, Castrol GTX, or maybe a Frankenbrew with two quarts of resolute I have on hand).

It isn’t wasteful in my opinion. The engine is significantly more important than the oil. This is like throwing out meat you suspect may be bad. Not worth getting sick over it for a couple bucks. Same thing.

Wife's 2025 Lexus ES350
Odometer: 5,550 miles
OCI: 5,550 miles

The Lexus complimentary 5K service does not include an oil change, so this was the first one. The next one will be at the dealer.

Out: factory fill 0w-20 synthetic, no filter change
In: Mag1 0w-20 synthetic

The drain plug gasket was ridiculously hard to remove, so I left it on rather than booger it up. This is a 36 month lease, so I plan to do 5K oil changes and 10K filter changes with long life filters. Even if I buy the car, it will still be better maintained than required.

Wife’s new-to-her 2012 Mazda 2 5-door hatchback; 1.5L 4-cylinder auto; 130,000km and change on car (excellent condition)

Out: Something completely black and sludgy, and a rusty(!) CarQuest red and white filter.

In: 4L Castrol GTX Full Synthetic 0W-20 and a ‘Certified’ PH6607 filter.

Will probably be in there ‘for the summer’, wife does nothing but short trips around town so will only put 3-4K miles on it before fall. May have to ‘adjust’ viscosity if it burns a lot; but no leaks or wet spots on engine, so should be okay!

Left the Fram Ultra filter on for a second OCI.

This was my last jug of natural gas derived Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Here is a shot of what’s on tap for the next change. This jug of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum does not mention natural gas. This was planned before the issues in Qatar.

The formulation didn't change. Just the label. They didn't think customers understood the significance.
