Post your latest oil change

2016 Nissan Rogue. 5200 miles on this change. Went a little over so I can finally get on the x5,000 oil change schedule. It is Valvoline Restore and Protect, so I'm not worried about it.

No oil burned.

Out: Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20 (old stash, before I knew better), CQ Premium
In: Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30, CQP 84356 filter again.

I upsize the filter to the GT-R filter. It's still small, but not like the lawn mower size that is OEM for this engine. It's like a thimble. Although with the amount of noise I had on the first startup, I wonder if I should go back to the OEM size. It was pretty noisy.

Oil was a light brown on the dipstick.

Had that slight red hue coming out though. Got it nice and hot and didn't burn myself.

Filter on and off by hand.

Used my new oil funnel with the adapter. Very slick. Of course with it on ramps, it's not quite level, so I used a level to make sure my measurements were accurate. Very handy since both vehicles aren't an even quart sump size.

Filter was completely clean. Nothing. There was the tiniest amount of sediment in the can.

Very tiny amount of sediment on the inside of the ADBV.

Didn't take a photo, but the view of the engine through the oil fill cap is pristine. Looks like brand new metal.

If it was the first start-up after an oil and filter change, then could just be from empty galleries. Judge by subsequent start-ups after the oil has been fully circulated through the system. If it still makes noise, I'd suspect a leaky ADBV, not the size of the filter.

Oh yeah I also switched out the drain plug to a Gold Plug. The bolt size went from 14 to 15 mm. Interestingly I couldn't hand tighten it all the way down to the oil pan which was a little concerning. It went super easy with a ratchet though so I felt ok about it. Did not feel like it was cross threading. I then loosened it to make sure everything was ok, and then I was able to hand tighten it flush with the oil pan. So that was good. Maybe a little burr on the threads from machining or something. I compared the length to the OEM, and it looked the same.

I didn't realize how strong the magnet was. It was actually a little hard to get it into the oil pan because of how hard it stuck to everything metal. I usually do it blind from the front of the car just by feel, and I had to swing around so I could see exactly where the hole was. Interested to see what I get on it next time.

2024 Honda Accord Touring hybrid, 4,484 miles total, ~2k miles OCI
Out: 0w-20 Honda Synthetic, 15400-PLM-A02 Honda oil filter
In: 0w-20 Amsoil Signature Series, PurolatorBOSS oil filter

This was the first oil change that I performed myself on the vehicle, previously changed at the dealership as part of the 2 years of free oil changes included in purchase. My maintenance minder hit 15%, likely based off time and not miles driven. I don't drive this car very much, though I plan to change that and take it out for some regular highway and interstate driving.

I also sent off the old Honda oil to Blackstone for UOA.

I target 3k miles OCI because I’m old…get off my lawn. I typically change both vehicles together. Sub gets driven slightly more so it’s usually closer to 4k miles

It was just the first start. Very slight rattle with subsequent starts but nothing crazy.

The 2003 Accord has been leaking a ton of oil that I THINK was coming from the oil pan. As much as it was leaking you'd think it would be easy to figure out.

Anyrate, pulled the pan to reseal it, so it got an oil change (of course)

10,455 miles on this change, but I know I've added several quarts over that distance, it really was a huge leak.
