Making a large purchase without spousal consent is a good way to bring about resentment and animosity in a relationship.
At least if there's some dissatisfaction and crying about the purchase, there is only on person responsible, lol.
I knew she was dead set on that purchase prior to her buying it. I had attempted to talk her out of it & it was a waste of time. I just made the stipulation that not one dollar of my or our money would be used, just “her” money. If that’s what she’s dead set on wasting it on then so be it
Why'd you go back to a 20 grade?
No doubt the AMSOIL will protect well but was just curious.
Is this the O'Reilly oil or do you have some old Castrol Syntec lying around??
The transition from ICE to EV I would feel a shudder in the whole vehicle and wanted to rule out the thicker viscosity was causing it during winter temps.
It's not the viscosity
Possibly the higher HTHS Euro values then.
It's not that either. And an oil's viscosity and HTHS are related. They are just measured under different conditions.
What have you noticed since you changed to 5W-20?
I haven't driven it yet. Roads still bad with 2 feet of snow over the past 48 hours and snow drifts.
No more shudder when the vehicle transitions from ICE to EV and when I shut it off. I got a very distinct shudder with 1 quart HPL Engine Cleaner 30 and a mix of Euro C30 oils. Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30/5w-30 and Motul Xclean EFE Ow-30 before the Amsoil XL 5w-20.

in for 3rd and final motul x clean+ 5-30
my engine uses 4,5 lt for oil between 6.000 OCI adding the 0,500 from the 5lit can at last 2000 km.
i am thinking at 4000 not to add the 0.500 left in the bottle and make an OCI where i would put the 0.500 left in the 5lt bottle of 5-30 and add for the rest 4lt of 300V to see what will happen with my engine,aiming to help it clear something inside bcs. of esters of 300V. i just dont want to buy a 2lt of 300V for covering the rest 0.500 ammount of the sump bcs. 300v comes only at 2lt cans and cost almost 50 euros .
i think i can mix a 4 lt of 300V with 0.500 of 5-30 xclean+ ,cant I? they share different recipe but come from the same blender house.

Oil analysis came back spectacular on the Pennzoil. Blackstone said it could have likely gone 9k miles but I don’t think I want to stretch it out that much. Oil life meter was around 10%. Analysis link below:
