Post your latest oil change

My son changing the oil on his 2013 Sonata. Took it over from his sister who bought it before I was familiar with the Theta engine. Through some incredible persistence of my wife she worked with a local dealership to have the recall work done free of charge which resulted in I believe basically a new bottom end.

Car has 163k now and while the consumption is greatly improved I still keep it on a tighter 3-4k OCI schedule. Along with my daughter’s new Civic, these are the only two DI engines in the family.

Love the hood prop

Not sure it’s worth spending any extra bucks on this car outside of oil and gas, but funny enough I just put a set of StrongArm hood struts on my F150 and they certainly live up to their name. Hood practically snaps open now. For $30 I just might splurge on a set for the Hyundai.

Spending $$ on practical stuff is always worthwhile regardless of the car's value. Cosmetic stuff, not so much.

I used cheapo lift struts from amazon for the hatch on my Matrix (about $15/pair) and they are working well after 3 years.

1999 Acura Integra 5 speed
b18c1 stock short block with b16a head, civic type r camshafts and supertech valvetrain, precision 6262 turbocharger.
183,032 miles
out- supertech 0w40 with honda oem filter used for 17 miles and 7 months
in- cam2 0w40 with fram FPS3593a (duel layered wire back synthetic media)

It really struggled to fire up today, got to put some fresh 91 in it. I disconnected all injectors and cranked for about 20 seconds total to build oil pressure, with new oil and filter I'm about 13 psi lower oil pressure compared to old oil which is weird but I'll monitor it, no leaks from the old fram.

That engines normally takes 5w20, wouldnt 10w40 damage something?
No, low viscosity oil is more of a chase for a 1% more fuel economy per vehicle for CAFE purposes than anything. Engines today are built with very tight bearing clearances, yet engines in something like a Corvette will still recommend 0W-40 or 5W-50. What you use the engine for, how hot it's operating range will be and fuel type determines oil viscosity, not just bearing clearances.

A 0W-16 oil for a Toyota RAV4 that's only going to be driving to work and highway miles is fine. You wouldn't want to run that oil in a high horsepower car that's going to see high RPMs.. Unless it's a Pro Mod maybe, where they use 0W-3 because the engine won't see normal operating temperatures during their runs

^^^ Seem kind of ironic, lol.
10W-40 might only damage something if the 10W was not applicable for the climate that cold starts are done in.

Agreed...the B18C1 in this configuration is begging for a XW-40 IMO.
True ... but a bone stock Honda 2.4L 4-banger (or any engine) isn't going to be "damaged" by a xW-40. Instead, it will have more protection from the thicker film thickness between moving parts. Like said, only the W rating can be what causes damage if a W rating is too high for the cold start-up conditions.

2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy 2.5T

Out: Mobil 1 ESP 0w30
In: Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0w40
Hyundai cartridge oil filter.
Sir, I was thinking about using 0w40 in my 2.5 Calligraphy. But I'm hesitant about the warranty. It calls for 0w30 of course. How are you making out w/ 0w40?? Mine is garage kept and not driven very much. Thanks!

Before yet ANOTHER foot of snow falls tomorrow, I changed the oil in my Wife’s 2018 Grand Caravan. 3,311 miles on this OCI, with several, several idle hours.

Out: Havoline and a Mopar filter.
In: Havoline and a Baldwin filter from RockAuto on clearance.

Swapped the air filter out as well, it was dirty and I was there.
