My 2nd full ofValvoline Restore and Protectnow in this GDI 2.4L engine - I had just shy of 4,000 miles on the last OCI with 85% highway miles and the oil was black with soot . I’m now backing off the OCI to 3,800 miles / 6 months and will check again at the end of this OCI whether to reduce the OCI again .
No , not yet - consumption began to increase as usual at the 1,500 - 2,000 mile mark . Inside the oil fill hole the metal is shiny and spotless I believe mostly from previous Mobil 1 oil used at conservative intervals along with the first fill of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30.Did you see any reduction in oil burning yet?

Nice choice. Valvoline Restore and Protect is a safe low cost option to clean out any engine including the oil control rings/piston rings.2016 Hyundai Elantra GT with 104k miles

Yes it is a 3.5L Twin-turbo GDI motor VR35DDTT. Same.VR engine class as the Nissan GT-R.WOW. That is some dark oil after 2000 miles. Is this a GDI/turbo GDI engine?
I like that Motul X-Clean+ EFE 0W-30, especially if you have a GDI engine. Hard to beat VW 504 IMHO. ACEA C3 for all that soot too.
Nice work.‘11 Honda CR-V EX

New, old car problems. Son’s first car. We picked it up for him last month. Noticed a small oil leak around the housing when we bought. I would’ve preferred to let the old oil go longer. But decide to replace the gasket now because it was leaking faster than I was comfortable with. Good to go now - no leak. Picked up an Supertech filter and used some NAPA oil I already had on hand.

Not really. He has only put 200 miles on it so far just driving around getting used to it. With the oil leak it was hard to determine if loss was due to consumption or the leak or both. I assume with the mileage there will be some consumption. But time will tell.Nice work.
Have you had it long enough to see if it's burning oil?
