Why the change to the Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy?
because of outside temperature. -25 Celsius to -30 Celsius every day for the past 15 days. where i live -30 Celsius happens at least 20 times every winter. lower than -40 Celsius about 4 times every year. it is fairly cold. and i don't have a block heater. i need all the help i can get. Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-30 is a fantastic oil for extreme cold. but the US version of the Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W30 appears to be not the same as Canadian version. the Canadian version appears to be more suited for extreme cold.

2016 Ford Focus ST3
33898 miles, 1804 mile OCI (8 months)

Out: Mobil 1 ESP SP 5W-30 and Microgard Select (MSL51516)
In: Mobil 1 ESP SP 5W-30 and CarQuest Premium (84502)

I only drive a couple times a week, but trips are usually about 20 minutes at reasonable speed and I tried to minimize short trips. Changed oil right after 750 mile road trip, it still looked decently clean and was surprisingly clear for a Turbo DI motor. I did not collect oil for analysis since this my first OCI with Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30, but I will cut and post the filter.

I have never changed the crush washers on either one of my cars and they don’t leak.
I get rid of crush washers (ones that actually crush like a spark plug gasket washer) and go with a copper or aluminum drain plug washer. Never have to change them out.

I’m switching to a Gold Plug next oil change, and I think they use these. I might try re-using them based on the good experience here.
I've got two Gold Plugs in use, and the metal gasket they come with can be used over without concern. I never change out any copper or aluminum drain plug gasket and have never had one leak in decades.

2024 Ford F-150 XLT
69 miles on unit
Out/off: factory fill oil and filter.
In/on: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30 and CQP oil filter.

The vehicle was the last new 2024 on the lot. If figured that since the oil had been in it for over and probably had a few short test drives, it was best to change it now. I’ll chair again in 500 miles.

And just to clarify, just a regular gasket not one that crushes? The Nissan OEM ones are copper crush washers. They are a big pain to get off the plug actually.

Yes, plain copper or aluminum drain plug washer gaskets that don't crush. Like this one that came on a Gold Plug. I never change them, and yes crush washers are a pain to remove from the drain plug ... another reason to go with one like on this Gold Plug.
