Yeah, it was concerning. At that low a level, I looked around for any signs of leakage when I was working on it. I didn’t find any hint of coolant leaking anywhere, so my assumption is that it was filled low from the start and as the system purged all of the remaining air over time, it got lower. Could be wrong, but it’s the most likely scenario I can see. I’ll keep monitoring the level when she visits our boys and see if it stays stable. The Honda dealership didn’t notice it when they did her oil change. She was frustrated by it and I was like “Mom, this is exactly why I do all of my own maintenance. Checking your own fluids isn’t difficult each time you fill up with gas. I can show you what to check.” And she just waved her hands in the air dismissively and said “I don’t know any of that stuff! That’s why I took it to the dealer because they should!”OMG 2qts low on coolant.
I know people like that. One of them is looking at extensive wiring harness repair because she couldn't be bothered to start her truck at least once a week and keep rodent poison/deterrent. They've been pulling insulation off the firewall and packing it under the upper plenum.Yeah, it was concerning. At that low a level, I looked around for any signs of leakage when I was working on it. Wiring harness work is a bear. Hope she doesn’t start having lots of little electric gremlins with that vehicle!I know people like that. 2002 Silverado HD with an 8.1 VortecWiring harness work is a bear. Hope she doesn’t start having lots of little electric gremlins with that vehicle!
Does it happen to be a VW? We had a 2018 Atlas and in one winter’s night (because the engine was warm), rodents got into the engine bay, chewed a bunch of wire sheathing (I was told it was soy based), packed a bunch of nest material and food on top of the VR6, and chewed on some other random things in the bay. They’ve ignored every other vehicle we’ve ever owned. Did have a squirrel take a 20mi trip in the engine bay of my Navigator once though. Scared the snot out of me when I popped the hood for my routine checks and it jumped out!
Sounds tough man, ngl. I hope it all gets sorted out without too much effort on your part. Here’s hoping!02 Silverado HD with an 8.1 Vortec
Have to sort the engine problems to find out if the transmission is ok. I'm trying to not get involved

I just noticed this on our Rogue. Coolant is low in the overflow tank. No coolant anywhere to be seen on ground in garage or in the engine. Zerex is all I ever use for automotive apps. For powersports I use Engine Ice.I just noticed this on our Rogue. Coolant is low in the overflow tank. No coolant anywhere to be seen on ground in garage or in the engine. Reminds me I need to pick up some...
Are we still liking Zerex for non-OEM?
