This is a new used vehicle to replace my wife's 2010 Ford Escape totalled in a wreck in August. One-owner car, high mileage but runs great, clean CarFax, passed mechanics inspection.

I wanted fresh oil in for the winter. So far we are very happy with the vehicle. It doesn't have the turbo-4 so hopefully we can get a good long life out of it.

Just thinking out loud here but I would have used Mobil 1 0w30
Just trying this:
What about an intermediate "rinse" with Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy or something to set a new baseline? If it's a moly film, it should rinse off with a normal oil. If it sticks around, THEN run Valvoline Restore and Protect and see if it goes away.

I expect these are the last oil changes I will do in NC. Futures ones will be done in PA in a much smaller garage. I'll really miss working in the NC garage for the past 22 years. Downsizing time has arrived.

We (the Fusion and I) have a trip from eastern Iowa to mid-Michigan in December then back surgery in January so she'll be getting a much-deserved break in the garage while I recover.

Possibly doing my daughter's 2011 Kia Forte before surgery. It's sitting at ~152k miles now and we may just do it so it's done.

(y) Yeah, do it now and relax while you recover.

2018 Hyundai Kona 1.6T AWD 70,000 miles. My car just came back from the dealer from getting 2 exhaust manifold studs fixed by having all the exhaust studs replaced. I had a spare OEM turbo sitting around that I purchased for $500 less then normal price, knowing I will need one at one point. No hybrid rework because of too many hybrids (larger turbines, machined and fitted into casting) to install, since the turbo is part of the exhaust manifold casting. Too many turbo oil seal leaks to trust on multiple company's custom hybrid units for a daily driver reliability need. So instead of putting back in the old turbo that has been daily thrashed on with two different boost leak events that were more then I like to see at 23 psi, and a tiny turbo in it's 7 year life. I had them install my new turbo. The dealer dumped my somewhat dirty 2,500 miles oil and installed new oil and left old my filter on, all without charging me for oil. No way I am trusting a Hyundai dealer to install GOOD oil.

So, I had to dump it and I put in 4 Qts of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w-30 and 1 Qt of HPL 40EC to try to get the HTHS from 3.2 to 3.x ^. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: And my last newly found, non leaker, 1st run Fram Titanium. The good old days of a decent oil filter for $9.

TWO ) Generators, 3000 Inverter, 11,000 Inverter Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 for Minnesota winters if and when needed.

Subaru is out, truck is in.
Old oil came out dark and I went with the larger filter. The Royal Purple in this grade has been on sale frequently on Amazon, so I grabbed it. The HPS and HMX come with synerlec and are good for cleaning. Once I run out I'll be moving it over to HPL. I intend on running the filter for 100 hours and the HPS for 400.

Didn't enjoy the thought of pushing the first oil change out to threshold. Plus, this weekend seemed like a nicer time to change it than in the winter, when I'd've hit 300 hours. I plan on cutting the filter, and if it's to my liking, I'll try for a 400 hour OCI.
