8 month oil change due to reduced driving

Out: dealer fill, Toyota filter
In: Mobil 1 0w40 Euro, Toyota filter

This car has always been serviced at dealer by wife for oil changes up til now, we had held off due to the stories regarding the plastic oil filter housing. I bought the metal Toyota housing and imagine my surprise when we discovered it had the metal housing already. Also put a Valvomax on as well.

2009 Toyota Camry 2.5L 4cyl
251,794 miles
5184 on the oil
Changed by the Maintenance light. It’s my daughters car, but used to be mine. It used 1/2 a quart at 3000 miles for the first time. So, I’m giving Valvoline Restore and Protect a try.

Out: Supertech 20000 mile Synthetic oil, 0w-20, Fram Toughguard filter

In: Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w-20, Toyota 90915-YZZF1 filter

Out / Off: Four quarts Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20 plus 1/2 quart HPL Engine Cleaner 30, Fram XG3614, old style w/o louvers

In / On: 4-1/2 quarts 0w-20 HPL Premium Plus, Mobil 1 M1-102A filter, new style made in Vietnam

Some additional context is needed here in terms of the use case. This vehicle has been driven the way a PHEV was intended to be driven, meaning mostly EV miles. Prior to my retirement it was logging at least 15 EV miles per day. The next image of the trip odometer summarizes fuel ecconomy over the course of 26,655 miles of driving. The trip computer is reporting 113.5 MPG which means that only one in three miles were ICE powered.

The next image of the trip odometer summarizes fuel ecconomy over the course of 3587 miles since the date of my retirement. As the fuel ecconomy of only 80.9 MPG would indicate, the percentage of EV miles has fallen significantly.

The recommeded OCI for this vehicle is two years or 20k miles, whichever comes first. As of 19 August those two years had expired and we were at 19.8k miles into the OCI. I was beginning to worry that the OLM wasn't working. Then on the morning of 20 August, two years to the day of the last change, the OLM finally lit up. Here's what it looked like this morning prior to the change.

2019 2.7 F150 at 18625, needed an oil change at 19700 for a 5K interval, but I wanted to get it out the way and install my RONIN FACTORY Ford F150 Oil Drain Plug

Oil didn't look very fresh coming out so glad I did it, out was almost 6 quarts Kirkland 5W-30 and in was 6 quarts Kirkland 5W-30, filter was EO FL2062. Used very little to no oil

I figured I'd do my generator at the same time, out just over 4 quarts of Kirkland 5W-30 and in 4 quarts Kirkland 5W-30. 1 year and 2 months on the oil but just 36.32 hours. Total hours on the engine is 244.47

Oil looked in super good shape, could probably have left it, but oh well, at least its fresh now! OCI in the book is 125 hours, but I would stretch to 200 based on last UOA

Why such low total mileage ?

2025 Mazda CX50 Hybrid. 5000km on the clock. Oil has about 4500km as we attempt to clean all the shavings/debris/crap Toyota left in there..

Out.
0w20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and OE Tundra filter. (90915-10010)

In. 0w20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Toyota YZZN3 filter.

...look at that crap..
Top filter is the OE filter at 400ish km.. that one left me in disbelief/shock..
Mid filter is the one that got out at 5000km (today).. i expected better to be honest..
Bottom filter, for comparaison's sake, is from my 2025 Prius Prime at a hair over 1200km.. (on car, unknown for the engine as it's a Plug in..) and how i expect every filter to look at an early oil change..

How is that oil pump still ok.. i'd like to see the oil strainer on that thing..

Anybody knows where Toyota builds the engines that goes in the Mazda CX50 Hybrids? Alabama where the car was built or..?
