Just fantastic! 401k! How has the timing chain held up? And how often do you adjust the valves? Really impressive.

How many miles on the OCI and Filter?
Lol, no clue.

The wife and kid swear I changed the oil in it last December, but the last entry I have in her log is from December 2023.

So, somewhere between 8000 and 25000 I would guess.

I'm not being mean to her, its just her responsibility to get with me when the car needs maintenance, or she can take it to a quick lube place. I know it wasn't changed elsewhere cause I remember using that MG filter.

That’s funny! Good on ya for giving good advice and doing the maintenance work. Healthy Love on both ends!

Oops! I just finished the third OCI of Valvoline Restore & Protect and intended to start a fourth, but I absentmindedly grabbed a jug of Extended Protection instead. I didn’t realize it until I was pouring the oil in and noticed it was visually different than VRP (slightly cloudy in the funnel) and didn’t have the telltale smell. Oh well. I’ll be more careful the next time I’m grabbing oil at Walmart.

My 11-year-old stepson mentioned last week that he wanted to learn how to drain oil from the bottom of the car—we typically just use an oil extractor from the top—so I woke him up before the heat of the day set in and showed him how. We also replaced the engine air filter and added some Techron to the gas tank for good measure.

Okay, this bothered me enough that I ended up draining the oil after only 6 days and 139 miles. I really want to begin a 4th OCI of VRP and I’m just not a patient person. Plus, I get the warm fuzzies of knowing that any carbon and varnish is being slowly eaten away. It’s my fiancée’s car and maintenance was not exactly top-of-mind before I came in the picture.

Man, I love this car, though. It’s helped raise two awesome children and taken a good bit of abuse in the process, but it keeps on going without a single complaint. What a tank.

I would have done the same thing myself, even though I am not a short OCI kind of person 😃 It was a bit hard for me when I was using VRP in my Civic because I knew that it was best for me to run it for shorter intervals than I usually do (I usually do 9-10k but with VRP I ran it for three intervals with each being in the 5.5k to 6.4k range, which comes up way too quickly for me considering it’s a 160 mile round trip from my place to Niagara Falls and I’m there 6 days a week right now)
