2016 Hyundai Accent 1.6, 247,078 miles, 1800mi oci.

Out: Mobil 1 5w50, Napa gold filter.

In: Motul X-power 10w60, Mobil 1 104 filter.

Early interval due to a combination of an intake manifold runner failure leading to excessive fuel dilution (oil smelled like straight gas) and pretty significant contamination with carbon. While the manifold was out I manually scrubbed all of the baked on carbon off the intake valves using a brush and throttle body cleaner, I think a good amount ended up washing past the valves and getting into the oil because the oil got extremely black soon after, looked jet black coming out like a diesel.

I also think the M1 euro isn't as great as it used to be, as I've been noticing with both the 0w-40 and the 5w-50 my engine gets increasingly louder as I get past 1500 miles, and the oil gets thinner visibly on the stick, so Motul it is from now on. Redline is too expensive and their add pack has way too much calcium for a direct injection motor.

These Korean GDI engines seem like more money in maintenance than it’s worth
$400 for four injectors at 231k, $580 for a new manifold at 246k, everything else is regular maintenance items. I'm sure it'd be a much better decision to just tow it to the junkyard and dump $50,000 into a new vehicle.

It's also worth mentioning I'm slightly nuts and you probably don't need to be as religious about it as I am. I want to get a million miles if I can.
