But…a truck like that deserves way better oil. Even if it doesn’t.

Hpl=no certification, so I probably wouldn’t use it

Torco sr1= same same.

Hpl= same

That leaves Schaeffers 9000

Or buy any of the above and save your Quaker state receipt.
That oil is going to get dumped at 1500 miles so I have some time to decide what oil for next change.

Changed the oil in my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L V8. Engine is real quiet now. All the typical GM V8 valvetrain chatter gone now. Plan on running this oil 10k then sampling.

Those are great funnels and they fit a range of years too …

The guy just shelled out $60k for a truck. I’d change the oil every 1k till it was broke in.
When was the last time we heard of a factory-fill oil-contents damaging the engine?

Seriously, run the FF for 3k so ownership can mentally sleep better. Then settle-in whatever permanent OCI is prescribed for beyond that.

This is not 1960-70-80-90-2000. Most everything in that new engine is digitally manufactured, so much less metallic debris runs loose / amuck inside the engine.

I ran my new vehicles FFs from 1970-80-90-2000....until this very day, for 3k OCI. Engines survived splendidly for over 20 years - over 300k.

Forgot to post put changed the 2021 Subaru OB oil in January 2025.

One knows they're an addict, when I'm thinking in my mind, "sweet funnel!"

(Oddly I only have about 3 5qt jugs of oil in the garage, other than Euro stuff, maybe 3 there--used to have probably 16 all lined up against the wall, as with rebates I'd gain +4 per year).
