Post your latest oil change

Love it, bought at end on June
Just turned over 10k
5600 miles and bought it mid November. Great on power. And gas mileage definitely improves in warmer weather.

Son’s 2021 Bronco Sport 2.0L. 122,174 miles, approx 7,000 OCI.

Out - PP 5w30, FL-910S filter.
In - SuperTech 5w30 syn, FL-910S filter.

Daughter’s 2024 Bronco 2.3L. 15,636 miles, 8,350 OCI. She neglected to tell me it was past the 5,000 OCI I prefer on these turbo engines.

Out - Dealer bulk, supposedly 5w30 Motorcraft syn blend, FL-910S filter.
In - SuperTech 5w30 syn, FL-910S filter.

Ford went out of their way to hide the filter on her Bronco.

Interesting that my 2021 Explorer 2.3L dilutes the oil quickly, but the son’s and daughter’s turbos don’t.

Using up my stash of FL-910S filters from two cases i bought a couple years ago. Guess I will switch filter brand when these run out based on the glue problems being reported on the newer Motorcrafts.

The FL-910S filter I took off my daughter’s Bronco was from a free dealer oil change. I cut it open last night and it has the excess/loose glue problem. Makes me afraid of any Mann Hummel made filters.

Curious!
Does your Owners Manual stipulate full synthetic be used?

i feel like I need to know more about the vehicle in background

2005 Yukon Xl Denali - 5,754 miles in 20.5 months. Hasn't been driven that much, Escalade is used more.

ST/T4 15w-40 and fram tg off. Mag1 15w-40 and carquest blue went on. Got the filters on Thursday and just wanted to spin it on. Oil was close to black on the stick anyway.

I wanted to experiment with it and see how little oil it needed to run, started with 2 quarts exact thinking it wouldn't be enough. I didn't pre fill the filter either and to my surprise it did fully lubricate and hold pressure with just 2 quarts. Expected the needle to climb then fall and was ready to shut it off. Lifters were silent and I even gave slow progressing revs to 2300 and it didn't drop or make any noise. I let the engine idle for a bit again then gave 3400 and held for a few seconds and the needle didn't stumble either. Granted I wasn't driving as the oil sloshing as I turn could starve the pickup tube bit it was ok with 2 quarts. Poured in the rest while running and there was no change in sound. But the engine running on just 33% of its capacity is nice to know. It's hard to starve these things. I thought 3qts/50% was the minimum. The old 5.3 and 6.0 hold 6 quarts while the new 5.3 and 6.2 hold 8 but I still think the new ones could just about lubricate with 2 quarts. I'll try it next time with my escalade even though I know the L87 loves to throw rods even when full of oil. Wife will rage if I blow the engine up though. Maybe I'll start with 2.5 quarts instead.

2018 Mazda 3 Touring 136k miles
Out came Pennzoil High Mileage 0w20 and a Purolator Boss
In went VRP 0w20 and a Mobil 1 M1-110A

Reading concerns about the louvers in some filters I stuck my borescope down the filter to check it out. Took a peak down the oil fill neck too and didn’t look bad. Engine sounds noisy to me so seeing if VRP smooths it out, less than .5quart of burning in 5k miles and still pulls down 31-33mpg so it’s not a case of hoping for a miracle from VRP; more a curiosity.
