‘2021 Kia Seltos 2.0L MPI engine
Out : M1 0W30 ESP Fram Ultra #9688
OCI : 4K miles / 6 month
In : M1 0W30 ESP Fram Endurance #9688

*First time running this oil in the Seltos - it did some cleaning after using M1 5W30 EP for OCI’s under 5K miles of mostly suburban driving . I’ll be interested to see how the M1 0W30 ESP looks after its second OCI run of this oil before sending in for a UOA .

You show ESP coming out of your Seltos. So this cannot be the first time you're using it.
What's different is your oil filters and most of the difference is minor & cosmetic.
Save money and get very good performance from Carquest Blue Premium Oil Filters. Sales run as low as $8.49

I don't know what happened. The end cap wrench kept slipping and it's correct. Nobody can be blamed but me since I'm the only one who's done the oil since 2012. Channel Locks are really tough due to no room and distance needed to spread the jaws.

Just in case, next time I'm prepared (but again it would be inexplicable)....

That's why I have 12-13 different end-caps. It may say it's made to fit and it quite doesn't grasp the filter tightly enough.

I'll never buy another one cuz' I have so many already. Nowadays when I change oil filter brand names, I immediately take it home and try the fit with end-caps I have. If I'm not satisfied with the fit, I exchange the filter for something else.

Don't buy the shorty end-caps whenever possible. I always try my deep well end-caps first. They have more grabbing power. Also, I always use a thin fold-style sandwich bag between the end-cap and the filter. Much easier to remove the old filter from the end-cap. Otherwise if you don't, they may appear glued together....lol

These work good for removal of stubborn filters, and don't need much extra room to use.

You are correct - I should have worded it to say “coming out” was the first time I had used the oil … Yeah , I wanted to try a Fram Endurance oil filter for grins. The Carquest Premium Oil Filters look to be real nice oil filters though for the future . With shorter Hyundai / Kia OCI’s I run , the Endurance is a waste unless I run two 4,000 mile OCI’s with it .

One little trick I found that works is if an end cap is not snug enough I put one or two layers of masking tape to line the inside of an end cap with to get a little more grab. The easier solution is to do as you do and simply return the filter (lol !)

That’s a great idea! The Carquest Premium that is on my Corvette right now doesn’t seem to work with any of my end cap wrenches so when I put it on I only did it hand tight (which is normally fine for all of the other cars I have changed oil on but this filter is in a very tight spot so I have always needed to tighten it up a little bit more with the wrench) I did buy another tool that might work but it is only set up for removing filters, it won’t tighten them.

Just start with 1” wide masking tape lining one layer inside the oil filter removal cap . It’s easier to work with a few short 4” pieces of tape and if you over lap a half inch or so with tape inside the cap it’s no big deal . Add another layer of tape inside the cap if still a loose fit . Lastly , spray a little PAM non - stick to the inside edges of the oil cap to prevent sticking to the oil filter after removal from the vehicle for easier cap removal from the oil filter .

2k~ oci with rotella T5 10w30 clearance deal rom Wal Mart and MO-090 MOPAR filter were removed.

In/on: OG ULTRA XG-16 filter and 4 quarts HPL 5w30 CK-4

something I learned: a ph-8A will NOT fit on this era truck period. It hits the cradle/frame. So now I have 3 OG ULTRA’s for free to anyone that wants them and Prime Guard POF-1A.

Oil had 1 quart HPL 5w20 NO VII also. Oil was blacker than black. Filter autopsy coming soon.
