A little early (again) on this oil change, by about 5-600 miles this time though, instead of 1500. This is my third round with the Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 for a total of over 7700 miles driven using this product.

The previous fill saw less consumption than the first. I was approaching 500 miles since I last added a quart, and a quick check on the dipstick shows about half a quart low. I'm unsure if I should expect any further reduction in oil consumption or not over this third fill but I'm hoping I will.

I drained out 4.5 qts, refilled with 5. I wanted to try the Fram Endurance so I got one and installed that over the OEM filter I had last fill. I was surprised by the quality and weight of the FE compared to an Extra Guard or Tough Guard, but still less robust feeling than the OEM.

Also added Gumout All-in-one to a tank of 93 octane Synergy TopTier from a Mobil station and did a transmission fluid change (drain and fill). See my thread about that in the maintenance section.

I rented a hoist to do my oil cooler lines in my Burb so I invited my daughter’s boyfriend to do some wrenching in exchange for a free oil change and winter tire installation.

2002 Chevy Malibu 1.5 liter Turbo

Out: Oil change shop 0W20 and white filter.
In: Pennzoil PUP 0W20 and Fram Ultra 12060. The Ultra Ultra change.

Here is the Malibu on the hoist with the shiny winter tires and rims.

I rented a hoist to do my oil cooler lines in my Burb. The first thing I did was drop the filter to drain out the oil from the galleys. The ADB valve has held and the oil cascaded into the pan. Disconnecting the oil cooler lines and draining them brought out almost another 1/2 a quart.

Out: Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40
In: Mobil 1 Euro Car 0W40.

Out: Motomaster OE Plus made by Champ.
In: Fram Ultra 10060

Here’s a shot of the old oil cooler lines. The Burb’s 6.0 has 262,000 miles.

Wife's 2020 Chrysler Pacifica.
In and out:
Supertech 20k 0w-20 and Supertech filter.
104,300 miles, usually a 5000 mile OCI but I did it a little early since I'm having knee replacement surgery next Friday.
I'd prefer a Mopar filter but Wally Mart never seems to have them in stock.
If it's full knee replacement, you may not want to kneel on the hard concrete to crawl under and back out from underneath your vehicle(s) anymore.
Takes about a full year to get most-all of your leg strength back, so be patient and do all the exercises. Thick, stiff foam and/or knee pads from Home Depot helps those that refuse to give up their DIY / at home oil changes.

Yeah, I already had the other one done last year. I sit down on the creeper first, then lay down, it's not too much trouble.

Swung by advance near his place; clearance table had Rotella T1 30 at $26.77. Clerk scanned it, showed that price. We walked right out.

2020 Hyundai (Tucson 2.0L Nu engine)

OCI: 6 months, 3,300~km | 25,000km on the car

Out: Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40
Filter out: OEM

In: Castrol Edge 5w30 M
Filter on: OEM

Edge 5w30 M seems to be an uncommon oil. Picked up 12L online at a decent price. Has API SN Plus, C3, BMW LL-04, and a couple of Mercedes approvals. Made in Italy. Date code suggests it was manufactured in 2010, if I remember correctly. Cool bottle design.

It is a nice bottle design. What does the "M" stand for or represent?

I actually overlooked the transfer case as it sits right in between the transmission output and the rear driveshaft. I did not change out the fluid on it (sorry for lying folks) and I'm currently researching equivalent fluids to Toyota's 75W Transfer Case Gear Oil (which appears to be Shell TF0870) to not pay more than $50/qt or L.
