Post your latest oil change

2022 F-150, 2.7 Ecoboost. 36k mi, 3k mi on oil.

Out: Castrol Edge 5W-40, MicroGard Select MSL10050
In: M1 EP 5W-30, CQ Premium 94103

Noticed a sizable drop in MPG (3-4mpg on average) w/the Edge 5W-40, so back to 5-30 for now. Will give PP Euro 0-40 a shot on my next OCI. Also rotated tires, swapped engine air filter and cabin filter.

That's a large variation. I don't see any meaningful variation in mpg between 30 and 40 grade oil in my Hemi 5.7. Obviously, different engine.
Yeah, was surprising to me too, especially since Edge seems to be popular amongst the EcoBoost crowd. I am not a petrochemical engineer, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but figured something must be off.

Anything other than a 1% variation in mpg between weights in that engine would surprise me.

What did you think of the FRAM Titanium? What was on before and what prompted you to get the Purolator Boss?

Just curious, I'm interested in trying one of those at my next oil change. Coming from a H/K OEM filter.
Was an ultra and then titanium guy for a long time. Boss is suppose to flow better and hold more dirt per independent tests I’ve seen. Any premium filter should be good though if changed regularly. I think we tend to nit pick a little on here. The boss is built well and it was slightly cheaper than the Fram at the moment.

Break in oil change 2024 Rav4 LE 1020 miles. Valvoline 0w16 oil and oem Toyota filter. Used oil was beautiful to watch

But the efficiency isn't great (check ISO efficiency M+H spec sheet and Ascent ISO test), especially as it loads up and sloughs off debris which lowers the efficiency. Last thing you want to do is use a debris sloughing filter for long OCIs.

I have a 2.0 ecoboost so I’m changing oil and filter at 4 to 5k miles. It should be great for that. Just don’t want a filter to be in bypass not doing any filtering. The boss should supposedly flow better in cold winter temps too. Both are great filters though. I think most premium filters should be fine, especially if changed regularly
