Post your latest oil change

2018 VW Altas w/3.6 VR6. ~60,700 miles/4,900 mile OCI. No consumption. First oil change was 7,897 miles so I had "all that metal" in there for a while to really goof it up.

Out: 6 qts Liquimoly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40, Mahle filter, Corteco drain plug, remnants of Liquiomly Ceratec at 50,270/2 changes ago (probably a giant clod of it still in the oil pan 🤣 )

In: 6 qts Liquimoly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40, Mahle filter, Corteco drain plug. Liquimoly DI Jectron.

Also will be doing spark plugs (Bosch), brake fluid (ATE SL6), and Haldex service (Vaico kit) this week. Next up is the auto trans service at some point this year...likely will use Valvoline Maxlife and a factory filter. K&N drop-in air filter was cleaned/re-oiled around 50K so no need to bother until 100K which will be in ~4 years.

Everything was free from FCP Euro sans the plugs....next ones will be. Have about $350 worth of stuff to ship back now with other maintenance supplies for the other VWs that have been waiting for this.

In: Liquid Moly 0w30 Special Tec V, Mann HU719/8x filter, Liquid Moly Ceratec milkshake maker.

Used Liquid Moly flush and still getting carbon chunks 35k after B12 soak and 5k oil changes. Luckily have not been using more than .5 qt between OCIs since then. Will post filter pic after it dries out a bit.

These engines with the low tension oil control rings are a real pain. Friend of mine burnt a valve on his 2015 @ 130k most likely due to carbon getting stuck behind it after flaking off in the combustion chamber. When mine was burning oil before the B12 soak the pistons were filthy with carbon build up. Do not go for recommended 10k oil changes on these cars even with syn unless it's top notch. I started 5k oil changes @45k after factory maintenance plan was over and those earlier 10k OCIs were enough to gum everything up. Car never had anything other than dealer oil, PUP, M1 EP, and now LM all xw30.

Finally some weekend downtime to change the oil on my daily driver, 2012 Toyota Yaris. 153260 Miles.

What came out: HPL Passenger Car PC5W30, was in service for 10600 miles. Donaldson P551132, was in service for roughly 5000 miles.
What went in: HPL Super Car PC5W40SC, Fram Endurance FE3600.

Base plate SmCo magnets caught some stuff, although very little, wiping them off on the shop towel revealed quite a bit and putting a magnet over them lifts the paper a little!

I'll probably send the filter out to a special guest or cut it open myself in a week, really looking forward to see what it caught.

Magnets arrangement on the new filter. This took me a little longer than expected since I had to clean off and reuse the magnets from the Donaldson. If you're curious these magnets size are 3/8" diameter x 1/8" thick.

Oil sampled, pretty certain it can go longer but I still want some base line mileage numbers before pushing further. As dark as it looks here, the oil on the dipstick looks clean reddish amber.

Takes about half a quart to prefill the filter. Took a whiff from the bottle and pitcher, there is that similar distinct sweet smell unique to HPL motor oils.

Big filter, but only half inch sorter than the Titanium FS3600, doesn't hang beyond the oil pan.

I start her up and noticed immediately the car sounds strangely quiet on idle. Normally there is little valve train nose on start up idle until fully warm/hot. First time running xW-40 grade oil on the car.
I like the magnets and obviously strong enough to stay in place. I have a FILTERMAG on the Pilot and Accord which keeps the junk on inside of can. The other cars I did Votex magnetic plugs but still might get the Filtermags. The Accord has Fumoto valve, Pilot has a Valvomax so they won't be coming out for a long time. Filtermag needs to slide off the end, trying to "pull" it off is rather difficult.

2008 Honda Odyssey (non-VCM) 204k miles
OCI: ~10mo 3750mi
Out: 10W-40 Valvoline MaxLife
Off: cicra 2011 dual layer Fram eXtended Gaurd 3593A
In: 10W40 Valvoline MaxLife
On: ToughGaurd 3593A

The OLM reached zero a few weeks ago, I finally changed it today, I put at least 3qts in it this OCI, so I decided that from now on I'll change it when it finally gets a quart low after the OLM goes off. I have a stash of clearanced 3593A Ultras I got from Meijer when they got rid of that size but the shelf they were on got moved and I don't know where somebody put the filters , but I at least I had a ToughGaurd on hand that I got for 72 cents when Meijer closed-out all the 3593A size filters.
I'm surprised your Honda doesn't take the 7317 filter.

Porsche 911 (996) 40th AE (IMS Solution with Spin on Filter adapter, Filtermag too)

Out - Driven DT40 5w40, Napa Platinum 1348
In - 8.5 qts Mobil 1 5w50 FS x2 Euro (Porsche A40) and Napa Plat 1348

Love the Driven 5w40, but prices have increased. Went with on sale Mobil 1 @Napa. Probably will shear to a 5w40 anyway.

More fun in 94f TX heat.
