Post your latest oil change

So am I. I installed on my Tundra and my wife’s 4Runner, was a no brainer to get one for this. Especially due to the location of the sway bar which is directly in the oils stream. I will remedy that with a “form-a-funnel” to direct the oil over the sway bar.

I’m getting spoiled by the Fumoto valves I’ve installed on my cars, and 3 or 4 of them for my pal’s cars.

The one that gets the most use is on my ‘02 Jaguar XKR, I’ve done about 15 oil changes so far on that car with the Fumoto in place.

Yes, it’s slower. But time is not an issue since I’m no longer doing this sort of thing for $$$. I just get the oil hot, remove the safety clip, installed the hose and turn the lever to the drain position.

Then it’s time for lunch and a nap. I could get 99.99% of the oil out in 10 minutes or less, but I take an hour or two getting the drip-drip-drip to cease. That’s just to satisfy my OCD alter ego.

My only Fumoto regret is that I didn’t know about them sooner. Clean and easy is the best way to describe oil changes now.

One nice thing on the 2017 Tahoe - if I’m not changing the oil filter - can easily open/close the Fumoto with no ramps …

Out: Toyota bulk 5w20 and white can filter with no markings whatsoever.
In: Mobil 1 5w20 and STP S10060XL filter

Installed Fumoto valve. Need to figure something out with that filter, what a pain in the neck to get to and try to avoid a mess.
Buy upper tier filters and change every 2nd OCI. Since you no longer have to crawl under the truck for that oil filter change, add a Pela or MityVac Oil Extractor for that every-other oil change. I have the Pela, which works with our 2.0 and 2.4 engines dipstick tube designs

Kinda' ironic, in-that I uninstalled our Fumoto Valves. I didn't like how slow the drain was...... especially when I used the long plastic tube for easy removal into an empty five quart jug. It seemed to take forever to drain. I find it really difficult for me (at 72 years old) to get up & down from the concrete ground. So once I'm underneath that vehicle, I need to finish the job right then & now.

Now I'm happy again, making a mess of our concrete driveway on windy days - or having the half-full funnel fall out of the five quart jug opening, while I'm pouring used oil into the jug....lol :)

2003 Dodge Caravan, Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic high mileage 5-30 that NG oil. (looks pretty) Fram synthetic filter 20.000 miles xg8a, it's nice that my 460 Ford and this 3.3 can use the same filter. My van used no oil in the one year of driving, 2000 miles. I used a cheap pump from harbor freight for the first time and the small tube would not go down the dipstick. It did make it easier using the pump to fill jugs from the full oil drain pan.

This truck is lifted 6”, so it’s actually easier to work under it rather than on top. I still have a bit of lead left in my pencil so for the time being getting on and off the ground multiple times is t a problem. When it does become a problem though, a vehicle as high as this will no longer be in my possession and I will take your advice and suggestions, thank you for taking the time to explain easier ways.

2008 Crown Vic:

Out- Frankenmix/Bestline/Fram TG(5300 miles)

In- ST syn Blend 5w30/ Bestline additive/ Motorcraft filter

178,166 miles

This OCI I've had a bit more noise on startup that I've had in the past. Hoping it's due to the Fram TG and these motors being sensitive with what filters you put on them. If not could be hydraulic lash adjusters, somewhat common on these cars.

Been using a pump for oil changes thru dipstick a long long time. My nephew (both sons live way too far away) does most oil changes for me these days and once in a while I will bring car to 5 Min Oil Change with my own supplies. They do it and charge me like $20 to $25 so that works. Last time I went there I noticed they too are now using pumps to pull the old oil out thru dipstick too. Manager told me it is so fast and a great move for them since they do not have to deal with the many damaged or leaking pan drain bolts that they often did before. I bought mine from Griot's Automotives years ago. Those pumps come in so hanJust saw a few nice ones in our local Harbor Freight store today plus one or two cheap ones that would be fine too. They just about last forever.
