Post your latest oil change

2021 Ford Bronco Sport 2.0 turbo. At 4400 changed the factory fill so I would know what was in there. Oil was still translucent. 5.3 quarts of Mobil-1 EP 5w-30(my go to). Motorcraft 910s filter.
Will go a conservative 6000 on this, don't care what the computer says...

I was going to give the wife's 4Runner an oil change today, but I decided to check the dipstick on my 2007 Tacoma while I was at it.

I don't check it that often because it doesn't have a history of using oil.

Last change was in June 2021, at 238,361 miles, with a blend of about half M1 Annual Performance and half M1 Extended Performance 5W-30, so it had about 8000 miles on the OCI (I picked up over 20 quarts of the M1-AP for 2 bucks a quart back in the Fall 2019 Auto Zone clearance - mostly 0W-20, but also some 5W-30). This was the last of my M1-AP 5W-30.

It was about half a quart low, and, since I've been in the habit lately of changing the oil every 10,000 miles, and I was already at 8000, it made more sense to go ahead and change it early, instead of adding half a quart and then changing it in 2000 more miles.

Using half a quart over 10 months and 8000 miles of mainly higher-speed expressway driving isn't excessive usage, by a long shot, but I decided to eschew my normal oil that I've been using in this truck since about 70,000 miles (it's never had anything but M1 in the crankcase - I bought the truck new in June 2007 and started it off with vanilla M1 and the old M1 Truck & SUV formula, and eventually started using EP exclusively), and pour in some of the M1-ESP 0W-30 that I got at AAP on sale for $28/jug. I figured it would be a good fit since it's thicker, the truck is using a little bit, and we're going into summer (it was a pleasant 85*F today here).

Used a Fram Ultra.

I'll monitor the level on the dipstick to see if this ESP slows down consumption a bit.

Next weekend, the 2021 4Runner will get what I'd originally planned to put in the Tacoma - M1-EP 10W-30.
Any leaks around the timing cover? These 1gr-fe’s are famous for leaking there. I had my 07 re-sealed under warranty.

2014 Subaru Forester 6MT 2.5L NA
ODO: 110,151
Consumed: ~1.5 qt
Top up: 1.0 qt

Miles on oil: 110,151 - 106,036 = 4,115
Estimated hours on OCI: 4,115/42 = 98
Out: 5 quarts mix (5 quarts Supertech 20w-50 + 4 quarts QS Euro 5w40 + 1 qt ETO2197)
In: 5.5 quarts blend (3 quarts Supertech 20w-50 + 2 quarts Traveller SAE 40 + 4 quarts QS Euro 5w40 + 1 qt ETO2197)

Off: XG3593A
Estimated hours on filter: 62 + 98 = 160
Miles on filter: 2,602 + 4,115 = 6,717
On: XG7317

Decided to change when the blot test was showing overall blot darkening, plus an inner halo. I am tending to just change the oil when it gets this way and is clearly dark from a dipstick wipe as it seems to be a simplest approach...Very slightly lower consumption this OCI. Did an alcohol flush before draining--poured in 12oz when the engine was already warmed, turned it on and ran for 30 seconds, turned it off, and drained.
2014 Subaru Forester 6MT 2.5L NA
ODO: 114,353
Consumed: ~1.5 qt
Top up: 1.0 qt

Miles on oil: 114,353 - 110,151 = 4,202
Estimated hours on OCI: 4,115/42 = 95.5
Out: 4.5 quarts mix (3 quarts Supertech 20w-50 + 2 quarts Traveller SAE 40 + 4 quarts QS Euro 5w40 + 1 qt ETO2197)
In: 5.5 quarts blend (3 qts NAPA 20w-50 + 3 qts NAPA SAE 40 + 2.5 qts QS Euro 5w-40 + 1 qt ETO2197 + 0.5 qt Biotech)

Off: XG7317
Estimated hours on filter: 95.5
Miles on filter: 4,202
On: XG7317

Changed the rear differential oil and transmission oil as well this weekend.

Transmission out: unknown, PO's blend (looked red and transparent and didn't smell typical, maybe RL 75w90 NS?)
Transmission in: Motul Gear 300 75w90 GL-5
Miles on oil: unknown, est 40,000 .... (910 hours, minimum est)
Drain plug was well coated up with metal, maybe 3 mLs?

Differential out: Supertech 80w90
Differential in: 3 parts Supertech 80w90 and 1 part Redline shockproof lightweight
Miles on oil: roughly 40,000 (910 hours)
Drain plug wasn't too covered with metal, but the oil came out looking kinda dark. Kinda like Cola without the redness.

I performed the first oil change on our Yukon this weekend. We purchased it in December.

2022 GMC Yukon XL AT4 w/ 6.2 V8 - 4k miles
out - factory fill and filter
in - Havoline Pro-DS Lifelong 5w30 and Fram Ultra

GM gives you a free oil change, but it's just easier for me to do it at home. Closest dealer is 20 miles away.

Taking a trip to Florida in a couple weeks, so needed to get her ready.

2017 Sonata 2.4 w/ 41k miles

On trip to Va, had a loss of 2qts conventional and carbon/burn on oil cap, slight sludge/burn on dipstick…
PCV changed and had no “clanking”. Filter had thickened pudding/slime when turned upside down and drained, wife swears she had oil changed at inspection….
Peace of mind got a 1k mile run on edge w/ 1qt MMO…. At this point, just hoping to keep it from grenading….
Coworker is amsoil dealer and sells to fellow FF at cost…

Out: Castrol edge 5W-30 w/ 1qt MMO
Off: Carquest premium

In: Amsoil SS 5W-30
On: Amsoil ea15k20

Edit: Always had 31mpg highway, knew something was off when I-95 at 80-85mph was showing 27-28mpg but figured fuel quality or warmer ambient…. Should’ve known….
By the way, welcome to BITOG!

Nice truck and garage!

You left the FF in about as long as I do (usually leave it in around 3-4K).

How much oil does that beast hold?

Thanks, John. We really like it, and were lucky to get it in this vehicle market, honestly.

Yeah, I'd have rather changed it a little sooner and then jumped to more consistent 5k (5, 10, 15...) oil changes, but it is what it is. Our trip to Florida will add ~2-3k to the odometer, so I definitely wanted to get it done before that trip. It's a direct injection engine, so I also installed a catch can.

2017 Ford Explorer XLT 3.5L NA @ 54,849 miles on odo and 6,000 miles on oil. Old and new oci use ST oil filter.

out - Shell Rotella Truck 5w-20 (last of a good size stash)
in - Castrol Edge 5w-20

always looking carefully at the coolant level as these engines have internal water pumps and are known to have water pump issues… so far so good.

Have a few free oil changes left. Then probably switch to the Napa FS and Filters.

2016 Nissan Rouge

somewhere around 6000 miles on the oil. Valve line full Synthetic and Purolater filter out.
Same car
135,800 miles
7280 on the oil
Same Supertech as used last change, but a Fram filter. I was unhappily surprised to find the Fram was shorter than the Purolator it replaced.

Valvoline quart is my catch quart for when I drain the leftovers out of a jug.
