Recently had the oil checked from my Saab 9-5 turbo.
5000kms drain interval. I'd leave it longer, but like most Saab B235 engines, they use a little bit of oil. After 5,000kms the oil level is just on the end of the dipstick, so that's when it gets changed.

I always use: Shell Helix Ultra 0W30 ECT C2/C3.

Have included the VOA as well.
Test performed by CAV-Power in Adelaide South Australia.

Given the car has 245,000kms on it. Other than burning a Litre every 5,000kms. the old B235e runs like a top and pulls like a train.

Regards
Jordan

2009 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 116K about 1700 miles on oil zero burning or leaking.

Out: Mobil 1 EP 5w20 and fram ultra oil filter

In: 4.2 qts Mobil 1 EP HM 5w30 and Hyundai OEM filter

The change is because I wanted better protection for this higher mileage Hyundai engine, plus I had a slight misfire (no cel) for basically the whole 5w20 run that I just fixed and the 5w20 I believe was thinned out even more as it smelled of gas.

Engine sounds ALOT happier now plus I submitted the rebate so this oil change set me back 15$ with oem filter.

helped a co-worker out the other weekend.

she has a 2008 Camry and she called, hey can you change the oil on my car since Firestone was backed out. I was like sure.

out : unknown oil and filter 277k miles

in : shell rosella gas and car in 5w30 and factory filter. I didn't have any 5w20 on hand so I used 5w30 instead.

2008 Chevy Malibu w/ 2.4L Ecotec 98,528mi
OCI:11.5months 3700mi
Out: Mobil1 0W40 + 1/2qt of PHM 5W20 and RT6 0W40 top up towards the end of the OCI.
Off/Out: Fram Ultra XG9018

In: Pennzoil Platinum HM 5W30 (Provided courtesy of Pennzoil as part of their Used Oil Analysis Program)
In/On: Fram Ulra XG9018

The filter looks just as good as when I put it on no Ecotec twistiness.

Coworkers 1972 Ford LTD convertible with the 460 I believe.

Out: unknown and napa 21515

In: 1qt hyper lube and 5 quarts Valvoline FS 10W30 and Napa Gold 1515

He has a real bad tick so we changed his oil and turns out he had maybe 2 quarts between the pan and filter. The filter wasn't even full, it didn't drip as I twisted it off. The oil was nasty as well. He only had 500 miles on this oil change so we're thinking the shop that did it last either didn't change it or under filled it cuz it shouldn't have gone through 4 quarts that quickly. Runs way better and the noise is gone now that it has oil in it.

This was the first time I worked on a classic car and I couldn't find the dipstick or how to open the hood and felt like a dummy lol

What’s the hyper lube do?

We were trying to fix the ticking but now I'm fairly certain it was caused by the low oil. Next time it gets changed I'm gonna have him forego the additive and just use all oil. It aint gonna hurt nothing and it'll get put away for winter soon so I'm not worried about it.

2017 Toyota Camry 27,288 miles 5,000
Out: 5 quarts of Mobil 1 0W-20
Off: Mobil 1 cartridge filter
In: 5 quarts of Castrol Edge 0W-20
On: Mobil 1 cartridge filter

Had about 2,000 on the oil but it has been awhile since it was changed I think close to a year and so my dad said go ahead and do it. We were going to put Mobil 1 back in it but all of the Walmart stores were completely sold out of just about everything so the Castrol was our only option besides Royal Purple. But it’s a great oil I like Castrol so I’m sure it will be fine we were just keeping the same thing going in it because it was doing fine. I think the oil capacity is actually 4.8 quarts but I have a hard time stopping on time lol.
I don't think your Camry's four banger would have been the least bit picky with any synthetic oil you picked. I had a 2017 Camry XLE and loved the motor.

So is your co-worker going to complain to his last oil change place? Three or more quarts low in 500 miles? Not too likely. And how dirty was the old oil?

He's just gonna have me do his oil changes from now on lol. The little bit that came out was very dark and very thick so we're thinking they just never changed the oil or put a new filter on and sent it on its way.

Thankfully someone else was rebuilding his front suspension over the summer so he didn't drive on it as much as he planned on so he didn't blow the motor up. It should be ready for all the car shows next year at least and now he knows to check his oil regularly.
