Have not done the change yet, will do it next week. I was torn between ESP and Redline. Redline was costing me $96 CAD after taxes and a coupon while M1 cost me $40.66 CAD after taxes on sale. Really wanted to try Redline oil, but that price point? Forget it. I’ll stick to their diff and trans lube. Savings of $56, allocated that towards the trans fluid drain and refill coming up.

I didn't know they had ESP 5w30 in 5QT jugs, I've only ever seen any of the ESP oils in 1QT bottles.
I'm out here in Toronto, Ontario, where this particular oil is only this cheap when it's on sale sadly. However, I am surprised in your area there are no 5qt bottles of this. Is this U.S thing? Or just a Muncie Indiana thing? Would be interesting to know.

Even googling it, I came up with nothing, there's apparently some 5L jugs they sell in Europe, but I've never seen it anywhere in a standard North American 5qt jug, it's usually only sold by the quart or a 6 case of quarts, I think you pretty much have to buy it online, I think AAP carried it for a while and clearance it when the sales were lackluster, my local Autozone carries the quarts apparently, maybe NAPA carries it in store somewhere but it's a special order item at all the ones around me, but it's not super common not something you'd find at a Wallyworld, but nor are Bimmers, Benzs, VW/Audis very common around here.

Same here with the pricing, only buy it when on sale. Never seen it in 5qts either, I order online and it always arrives in 1 qt containers. Awesome oil anyways!

2018 Toyota Tacoma
54596 miles on unit
7221 miles on oil
out went Kirkland 5w30 synthetic SN+ And a Toyota filter.
this change had some towing, a Nasty west texas dust storm and a few miles of dusty road base driving but for the vast majority of miles it was highway drives. From 35- to hundreds of miles at a time all over Texas. Since December or January when I last changed it.
The oil color was hardly changed during this service. As noted by the oil level check prior to change.filter looked good.

in went 6.3 quarts Kirkland synthetic 5w30 SP
mobil 1 extended performance 20k mile filter
plan on running filter 1 year or 20k and the oil for 10k
sending oil sample in before the power train warranty expires.
the next 10k I will have to do heavier maintenance.
plan to do atf, spark plugs, differentials and transfer case fluids and brake Fluid, and possible full brake service, power Steering fluid and this battery is running on pure luck in this Texas heat.

this has been a great work truck but it’s time to do some additional inputs so I can invest my vehicle stipend and mileage earnings above actual fuel costs for a couple more years tax free.

Ram, out Kirkland 15w40, right back in. 100 mi later lost oil pressure, same back in with some Delvac syn. 20mi later, lost it again, scrapped the dual oil filter setup, don't have time to deal with the slipping hose. And final result is Delvac extreme (can't roll my eyes far enough at that name) 15w40 with (as always and forever) DBL7349 and six or so 33lb pull neodymium magnets slapped on it. Awaiting analysis results with hopefully no lead in it. Would hate to get that 5th gen abomination.

on deck for the Ford in my sig later this week:

5qt jug of Valvoline Advanced Synthetic 5W20 ( it was that or Magnetec 5W20 )
and a
Motorcraft FL400S ( car specs 910S )

NOT Being a FORD guy for over a decade I ASSSUME they are interchangeable - if it fits.

400s, 910 s and 1a all have the same thread pitch.

If you have enough length the Fl400 should work in place of the fl910, depending on the mounting plate you might be able to get away with using the larger fl-300 or fl-1a, they're a larger diameter but the gasket is the same, but a lot of Fords that spec the fl910 or fl400 they won't fit because the adapter plate is too close to the block, has a step in the adapter plate, or like on the Vulcan engine the starter is in the way.

For the first time ever, i got startup noise on one of my vehicles. As seen below, i did an oil change last Thurs with PNZL Syn and a Fram Ultra. That's when the racket started. I left it in a few days and it never went away. So i got fed up and changed the oil and filter to Quaker State All Mileage Synthetic Blend with a SuperTECH oil filter. Thankfully, the noise went away immediately. I have no idea why there was noise at startup.

I'd guess maybe the Fram filter, for whatever reason people have complained about start up rattle when using Fram Ultras on Hyundais.

It's weird because i've used FRAM before...often in all my Hyundai/KIA vehicles. This was really surprising.

2014 Subaru Forester 6MT 2.5L NA

Estimated hours on oil: 84
Miles on oil: 3,195
Out: 4L of (4qt Delvac 1300 15w-40 +1qt M1EPHM 5w-20 + 1 pt rislone high mileage concentrate)
In: 4L of (7 parts Delvac 1300 15w-40 + 3 parts Mobil 1 EPHM 5w-20) + 1 pt rislone high mileage concentrate

Off: none / round 2 for XG7317
Estimated hours on filter: 84
Miles on filter: 3,195
On: N/A

Lost about 1pt after the first 1000 miles, so i topped up with rislone, but subsequent 2195 miles stayed put at 60% region on dipstick. Have since needed to do the same since posting this, so it is included in posting. Suspect it is consuming either with high engine speed or under engine braking.
