Just did an oil change on my son's new 2020 civic. 2.0. Oil drain plug on it was a breeze, but Honda must have employed a gorilla to put the filter on. Took me almost 30 minutes to get it off. I always hate the first oil change on a new vehicle.

I've done several 1st time oil change services on Honda Accord 4 bangers over the past years.
Every one had the crazy tight oil filter. They should subscribe to BOB.

Yeah, Subaru went from a 17mm to a 14 mm drain bolt head a few years back. Seems to have softened the metal as well. When they get installed at the factory they paint the drain bolt. Seems to even have paint in the threads on the pan. To the credit of the dealer who did the last change, they did have the new plug installed with about the correct tightness. No biggie to get it out this time, easy peasy.

Sometimes I feel like they Superglue those drain plugs and filters.

Its always interesting to see what's on the day's service agenda, but I prefer the extra income for servicing them versus the responsibility of owning them. I wouldn't trade places with my acquaintance.

Wanted to go only 60 hours on this change. Wife went on 2 very long trips with the Rio--55 total hours at highway speeds, and given they were both highway, I figured it would likely be safe. I normally keep a close eye on the dipstick level when I am driving it (during a gas fill up), but I don't drive the vehicle as often as I had been. The dipstick was halfway between the min and max mark, not sure if that is oil consumption or full fuel removal during the long drives, but I am hoping the latter. Normally I during a spill and fill, I fill it halfway between and after a few hours of city driving, the dipstick reads at the max.
