4,000 miles OCI. Changed after winter of cold starts.
Using QS and Pennzoil products for the $10 rebates and sale prices at WM and Canadian Tire.
Changed filter: out and in: Fram TG 3600.

In : castrol edge (made in Germany) 0w40, wix 51348

The castrol is noticeably quieter than shell.

Out : Repsol Performance 10W-40, Motorcraft EFL600 filter
In : Valvoline Maxlife 10W-40, Motorcraft EFL600 filter.

Nice and quiet with the Maxlife, perhaps the quietest it's ever been.

Different formula / different intentions and uses. If your 4Runner was newer, you may not had switched brands.
Rotella Gas-Truck has many quiet-use fans with newer engine designs.
For members here yelling for quiet engines in non-0w20 flavors, I mention Gas Truck or Quaker State Ultimate as good medicine.

Good oil selection and filter selection
 
Mother in laws 2001 F150 5.4L 107000 miles.
1.5 years since the last oil change. About 5000 miles. Unknown oil and car craft filter. This was my father in laws truck. She's been driving it since he passed. Value train was clean. Needs more tlc.

In Valvoline Maxlife red bottle 5W30 and a FRAM Ultra filter.

Now starts the approximate 10k mi oci
Done at my local VIOC while in the car. Excellent service. This is not bulk oil. They retrieved a box of six individual quarts (VW508.00, Porsche C20 and ACEA C5 approved) and used an extractor. The filter was brought over to me to inspect - made in 🇩🇪 Germany.
After coupon and return customer discount, I paid $70.

Plus, many here know I'm a Valvoline fan.
