2002 MB ML320, ~170k miles
Out: Unknown, mostly sludge. Unbranded Chinese filter. Had been in there for about 20k, according to OLM and sticker in the windshield
Drove 20 miles with a quart of ATF to try and clean it out some
In: 8.5 qts. SuperTech 5w30 HM Syn, Mann-Hummel filter
2003 Toyota Highlander, 3.0L V6, 271k miles
Out: Unknown bulk oil, probably started out as 5w30, not quite as much sludge as the Mercedes. Had been run for about 16k. STP filter.
Ditto the MB on the ATF
In: 5 qts. Harvest King 5w30 Syn Blend HM, Bosch 3422 filter
Both the Toyota and the MB are owned by a relative known for neglecting vehicles.
I planned to send samples from both for a used oil analysis but got lazy and dumped it

Agreed. Whatever I would have spent on used oil analysis would have been a complete waste, save for my own entertainment.
The owner would have learned nothing from it, the neglect will continue. That was probably the last oil change either of those vehicles will ever see.

Depending on how well you know this person, I'd personally make them sign a waiver before I installed an incorrect oil under their request.
