I've always seen these things driving around and thought it looked overloaded, didn't realize it was actually a 1 ton since they look like a regular small Toyota truck from the front. How well does it pull the load with the 3.0? Or was it just a customer's vehicle?

It's a customer's vehicle. I'm doing an inspection on it while we have it, so a road test is pending. I can let you know then. It's an odd vehicle for sure.
Update: it's slow.
