Out PP: 5w30
In : PP 10w30. 172,000 miles
Left the oversized Fram 10575 on it.

I have a broken front stud on the driver side exhaust manifold which I suspect is giving me a cold tick that disappears when it is warm. Just want to check it was a lifter so changed to 10w30 to see If any difference.

First oil change on the '18 Crosstrek.

Interval: 6036 miles, 6.5 months
Oil consumption during OCI: ~0.5 qt, almost all during the first thousand miles. No make-up oil added.
Out: Subaru factory fill (took a sample, will send it in to NAPA this week)
In: Idemitsu Zepro Eco Medalist Advanced Moly 0W-20 (got two 5-qt jugs for $21/ea on Amazon a while back)

I did a conventional drain through the drain plug and put on a new Subaru filter and drain plug gasket. While I was underneath there I saw that there is a plastic kinda-sorta skid plate (with a little cutout for access to the drain plug) that should provide a modicum of protection, so maybe next time I'll put a Fumoto valve down there.

I needed a cheater bar to get the drain plug loose - it appeared to have been painted over AFTER being screwed in - but overall the oil change process itself was real easy. I like the top mounted filter. What was a PITA was rotating the tires, because I found to my chagrin that my floor jack couldn't extend far enough to get the tires off the ground - the ground clearance and suspension travel were too much! I ended up using the scissor jack that came with the vehicle to get it up on jack stands, which worked but took forever and a day. On the plus side, I was able to break the lug nuts loose with just a lug wrench, no breaker bar needed. Rust levels on the lug nuts were low despite the first half of this OCI being during road salt season.

Not sure whether I should get a floor jack with more travel, or find a 2x8 or something similar to put under my existing jack.

Changed out factory fill/filter on 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L Hemi:

7 Quarts of Penzoil Platinum and OEM Filter (MO-339)
1,865 Miles
Next change will be 6 months or 5,000 miles whichever comes first

2004 4Runner V6, 177,718

Out: Redline 5w30 and Fram XG3614

In: PYB (old label) 5w30 and Fram PH3614

Oil was in service 6,900 miles over 2 months of driving with most of it towing.

1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1

Out: PYB 10W-30 and junk Performax PO-1 filter (Tearolator jobber, that was tiny compared to the Napa Gold I replaced it with!)
In: 6 more quarts of PYB 10W-30 and a Napa Gold 1515, car rarely sees 1000 miles a year so I change it annually, although the last oil had almost 2 years on it and around 700 miles. Oil still looked really clean but I wanted to get that Tearolator off there mainly!

2004 Nissan Sentra 185K
Out: less than 1 gallon 5w30 MaxLife
In 3 quarts 5w30 MaxLife + 1 quart 5w20 M1 Frankenmix.

No filter change cuz I was too lazy and it's hot today in Silicon Valley.
Next time...

2015 Nissan Sentra. 56K miles on engine. 4700 miles, 4 months on oil.

Out: Valvoline Synthetic 0W-20, Fram Tough Guard filter
In: Valvoline Conventional 5W-30, Valvoline filter

Working 60 hours a week makes it difficult to change my own oil, so I took it to the VIOC. It's crazy how much cheaper it is to use synthetic on a DIY job than to pay for a quick lube.
