It definitely made a difference. Luckily I scored about 20qts at my local AutoZone. Also scored a ton, 38 qts RP 0w20 as well. I've noticed a big difference during idle and cold startup with the Magnatec during the 80 miles I drove today.

2014 Kia Picanto 1.0 3 cylinder petrol engine.

28700 miles

Kia Oil Filter (Mann Hummel) replaced with OE Spec Mann Filter (Made in Korea)

Castrol Magnatec 5w30 A5/B5 SN out (in use approx 10k miles)

Shell Helix Ultra Professional AF Engine Oil 5W-20 SN A1/B1

Engine is now filled with the Kia specified oil viscosity as per Kia UK Website.

Engine seems to crank very slightly quicker on cold start and doesn't feel like it want to stall when ohllung away meaning you can slip the clutch a little less.

I didn't expect to notice any difference but I suppose with such a small low powered engine every little helps.

Will report back on any Economy improvements that might result.

The older 1.1 Picanto (2005) is also specced for 5w20 in the Kia oil spec table I downloaded from the Kia UK Website.

I stuck with 5w30 as I was concerned about oil consumption due to the cars High miles (now 142k). I haven't had to top up the oil whatsoever.

The older model is specced for 5w20 SL, the newer one 5w20 SM but I could only get hold of 5w20 SN.

Not that clued up on API specs, but think Inwill put the same oil in to the older one.

It's a throwaway car anyway.

I consider rotating the tyres on the 14 Picanto when I did the oil and filter change. But didn't bother as the fronts are almost new, the OE Hankooks had worn quickly on the front and also worn on the edge, still nearly 3mm of thread in the centre but closer to 2mm on the edge and with Winter coming I just put on New at the front.

I really need to remember to rotate my tyres.

I thinkn2 years with the X351 XJL and the wider rears has broken my habit.

2001 Lexus ES300. 218K miles.

Out: 1 Gallon Delo SD 15w-30 + 1 quart Havoline synthetic 5w-20 w/ 2900 miles

In: 2:3 mix of Quaker State Ultimate Durability 10w-30 (manufactured June 2016) and Pennzoil Ultra 0w-40 (from December 2013).

This is five of the 13 Autozone clearance SOPUS quarts I got in 2016 for (almost) free after rebate.
Left the oil filter alone, TG8316 with 2900 miles.

I warmed the PU bottles up last night with hot water and shook them vigorously. Looked in all three bottles after pouring today and found none of the "additive fallout" that I've seen reported by some folks. Next time I dip into the PU stash, I'll see how it fares without shaking etc...
