This OCI saw 90% highway miles including two 1500+ mile trips. I'm still getting to know this truck / engine, but so far I like it. It looks like the OLM will take the OCI close to 10,000 miles if I let it. Averaged 20.5 MPG over the OCI (according to the onboard computer).

Love a carbureted 350 backed by a 4sp, only an 8.1 modern big block makes me smile more. How much oil does your 8.1 use between changes?

1999 Nissan Frontier V6 4x4.

Been running Castrol synthetic 5W-30 for a few years. Change every 6 months or so regardless of mileage; about every 4k on average (OCI in the manual is 3750). Last weekend, I dented the oil pan on a rock. No apparent ill effects but wanted to check out the pickup tube. So I drained the Castrol after about 2k miles and used an inspection camera through the drain hole to have a look. Wasn't able to get a great look but what I did see was apparently an intact mesh screen.

Refilled with the cheapest dino they had at Autozone (had a $5 coupon), this time STP 5W-30. Didn't bother to change the filter. I'll do that next time. It's 17 years old and 136k miles, and I'm not too worried about putting pricey lubricants into it at this point. As much as I (don't) drive it, I expect it to rust away before the drivetrain gives out. I've got a stash of $1.40 FVP filters that I got on closeout and will roll with those and dino for the next few years.

My sister's 2005 Ford freestyle(AWD CVT).

She and hubby both unemployed at the moment, with 2 kids(15,& 7).
Last they were down dad took the car to fill the gas, he noticed the olm was lit up, and they were a little over the miles on the sticker from the local shop they always use.

I volunteered to do it for them, and my sister took that as an opportunity for me to teach my nephew how to change oil.

Drove up today after he got home from school, put it up on my ramps, we both get underneath, and I let him do the work, pointing out what to do.

Anyway, out with the unknown bulk 5w20, and CQ Red filter, in with Autoquest(Meijer/Warren) HM 5w20, and a Fram Ultra

Out with whatever disgusting mess was in there and the FRAM filter, in with some lightly used Mystik 10w30 (from the 806) and two quarts of Trop artic 10w30 and a Napa gold filter.
