2015 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Subie dealer in Leesburg, FL did two factory recall services and a factory complimentary oil and filter change at 17K miles. Foolish me didn't check the dipstick until I was returning to NC. The result: it was overfilled by a quart. Why are some technicians so careless? I almost needed a pair of channel locks to open the oil fill cap.

At 17902 miles I corrected the fill and installed a Fumoto drain valve to use for the two remaining OC's before I the lease ends. I'll be saving the Fumoto for the next vehicle.

In: PP 5W-30, Napa Gold 1515.

Was doing a filter change interval but upon cutting open the filter the media has separated from one of the end caps. Didn't know if I have to change it or not so I changed it. Just changed it for safety measures.

IMO.....you are highly under-utilizing a top-tier synthetic. What a waste. should be able to do at least 7500...on M-1 or PP.

If your intent is doing only 3000 OCI's (old school)...just save $$$ and go to a conventional.

He has a car under warranty, it calls for oil changes every 6 months. Why does it bother you if he spends an extra $7 twice a year for synthetic?

2003 BMW 330i
Out: BMW 5w-30 w/OEM filter
In: Mobil 1 0w-40 (LL-01 version) w/FRAM filter (made in China....ewwww)

Km's on the car were ~181,000. This is my sister's car and unfortunately being a last minute oil change, we were unable to source a non-China filter. Was a bit disappointed.

Because its a stupid waste of resources....I dom't crre if he spends extra $$$, but its still for stupid reasons. USE A CONVENTIONAL.....at 3000 OCI's.
