Two changes today, my 2003 Jetta and the wife's 2008 Rabbit. Both took six quarts of Mobil 1 0W40 each. I put a OEM filter on the Jetta and a Mann on the Rabbit.
The Jetta doubles as a track day car. This oil had about 4200 miles on it and seven track days, or about 14 hours of track time, on it. Sadly, I got a few nice sized chunks of metal out of it, I'm thinking rod bearings. Most of this is dirt and bubbles, but you can see at least one nice chuck in this picture:
We'll see if she holds together next weekend...

Did both cars today. First time I have ever used synthetic!

G5 OCI 7687km OLM 56% - this time I'm going to run the OLM till it says change like I do with the 6

06 Acura RSX Base 2.0L with 32k miles - out dealer 5w-20 mineral with acura filter, in Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 and acura filter. Planned interval 6k. Next change: Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 with Mobil 1 filter. Planned interval 6k.
02 Grand Am (2.2 ecotec with 106k miles) - out Mobil 1 0W-40 with supertech filter, in Mobil 1 10w30 High Mileage with supertech filter. Planned interval 5-6k. Next change: Pennzoil Ultra 10w30 with supertech filter. Planned interval 6k.
Parent's car:
09 Toyota Matrix 1.8 engine with 6k miles. Out Mobil 1 0w30 with toyota filter (5k miles). In Mobil 1 5w30 with toyota filter. Planned interval 6-7k miles. Next change - unknown. Possibly Pennzoil Ultra if I'm able to find any more in 5w30 at reasonable price or Castrol Edge in 5w30.

09 Mazda 6 2.5L engine 42k miles. Out dealer's filled unknown mineral oil and filter. In Mobil 1 5w30 with Mobil 1 filter. Planned interval 6-7k miles. Next change - possibly the same or Pennzoil Ultra or Castrol Edge in 5w30.

Note: Castrol GTX coloring same as always...clear in the light and greenish in subdued light when new. When used brownish in subdued light with red tint in brighter light.
Why is that?
