Honda OEM AND AC Delco filters!

Fram Orange can and OEM crush washer

This developed a serious oil leak part way through and I was busy so had a shop look. It ended up being a faulty gasket on the Honda filter so they put on an AC Delco and topped it up with 5w20 of whatever flavour they had in bulk.

First and last time using an OEM filter, though I’m sure they’re usually fine.

2019 Impreza. 19210 miles on car. ~2,676 on oil but 6 months.

In and Out:
PUP 0W-20 and the last of my Subaru Blue filters (not the unlabeled one). Also replaced CAF with a Bosch HEPA. Also put in a bottle of Redline SI-1

I made an amateur mistake. When I started the car for a few minutes before topping off I left the filler cap off and got oil all over the engine bay. Sucks having to clean that up.

Note oil level on dipstick before the oil change. No make up was added during the OCI. Under the valve cover is staying clean.

I’m really pleased.

Out: QSFS 5w30 w/ Champ 500XL

I have one Champ left and it will be my last. While I'm sure it filters fine, access to my filter on the PowerBoost is limited. These have a thin can and compact some under filter wrench pressure, making them a bear to get off.

That’s when WIX made quality filters 👍🍻

Doing it early, at about 4500 miles because I'm heading to central Michigan from eastern Iowa for the 4th time since mid-July (mom was in hospital for 35 days, home now) and the 5k OCI will elapse while I'm on the road.

Ran for 3k. Keep OCIs short due to possible timing chain failure rates with the 3.6 engine.

Nearby Oil Change Shop did the labor part for $25. Doctor said I still cannot kneel on my new knee for another 2-3-4 months. He says I may never "like to kneel" on my left leg again.
Supposedly, this is a common occurrence with 72 year-olds like me.

If my own backyard oil change days are in my rear view mirror now, I'll cry like a baby for about six months. That's when I'm scheduled to run out of our case of Kleenex from Costco

2024 Subaru Outback Onyx XT 2,000mi

Out: factory fill

In: 4.8qts of Mobil 1 EP 0w20 and an OEM filter

The factory filter was cut open and there was some glitter from assembly in it, so I feel like I did the right thing.
Was there proof the glitter was getting through the filter and back into the engine or did the filter do its job?
