2014 Chrysler Town and Country
102,307 miles, 5460 miles on the oil
Out: Havoline Pro DS 5w-30
Mopar filter
In: Havoline Pro DS 5w-30 and 1 quart Supertech 5w-30
Mopar filter

I dumped a quart of the Havoline in before I realized I hadn’t put the drain plug back in…..
2014 Chrysler Town and Country with 106,908 miles.

4600 miles on the oil.
Changed because I’ll be busy at work the next two months and won’t have time.

Out: Havoline 5w-30 6 quart box oil and Mopar Filter.

In: Valvoline Max Life 5w-30 with Mopar filter.

Only reason for the switch is price, though I prefer to use Valvoline products.

2018 Durango V6, 94,183 miles on it.

Out: 5 quarts M1 0w20 AFE, 1 quart M1 0w40 & Fram XG11665

In: 5 quarts M1 0w20 AFE, 1 quart, High Performance Lubricants 30 EC & Fram COR11665ACC. Honestly couldn’t tell the difference in the Fram Filter, it looked just like a CH11665. Will run the filter 1k-2k and change it will out periodically while it’s cleaning. Probably will run the oil change 5k.

Rotated the tires too.

Part of me finds it funny how some of us leghump a particular brand. For the first 15 years I beat the **** out of cars it was all Castrol.

Then I started seeing Mobil 1 as the factory fill on cars I dreamt about (911 GT2 RS etc.), and I never looked back. I continued to beat the **** out of cars and never had an oil related issue.

It isn't marketing for me, I'm loyal to Mobil 1 through and through. I've developed a weird and deep interest in engine protection that only a few niche individuals such as yourselves understand.

My wife and "regular " friends think I'm a little crazy but respect my opinions because the info that I propose is gleaned from hours of reading countless threads with pertinent factual content, with as much ******** as possible filtered out.

Still so much to learn though, like why some advocate going thicker all the time while not seeming to care about how it affects oil pressure and gasket longevity.

I love this site🙂

Can I get a AMEN! 🇨🇦🇨🇦

The oil pump pressure relief controls the max oil pressure the engine sees, regardless of the oil viscosity. Just think how thick oil is when it's 0F outside.

Also since the pressure is dictate by the bearing clearances anyway, isn't there no effect on the gaskets either way?

Most gaskets are not under any kind of oil pressure, but if there was some that were, they better be designed to take the max oil pressure the pump relief is designed to control, plus a safety factor above that.

Bottom line is that using a thicker oil doesn't cause seals and gaskets to blow-out due to "more pressure" because the oil pump controls the max pressure regardless of the oil viscosity.

2010 Ford Escape

OUT: Pennzoil High Mileage, Motorcraft 910S filter.
IN: Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage, Pennzoil PZ-21 filter
Mileage on vehicle: 198898
Miles since change: 1697

Very short interval, but the OLM has been telling me to change it since last week. Not sure why, but it has been taking a lot of short trips and there have been a lot of temperature extremes this winter. It is also possible I forgot to reset it last time.

Wife’s 2018 Grand Caravan:

IN: Havoline and XG11665
OUT: STP oil & filter special from AutoZone
Miles on van: 39,200
Miles since last change: 2,885

Changed it a little early due to extensive idling lately and several trips into NYC. Also severe inclement weather was predicted and was unsure when I’d have the time and a driveway without snow and ice on it lol.
