Right ON! I love an early service. Keep them internals clean!I caved and did an early (43% left on the OLM) change.

In what vehicle did you get that one? I thought they were done with them after the 2020 Santa Fe (2019 Sonata). I had one in the 2018 Santa Fe Sport we traded back in March for my wife's Jeep. I ran Castrol Edge 0W-40 in it (once Mobil 1 0W-40). It ran fine, but once when I change the oil, I found a thin wire looking like a piece of metal on my magnetic drain plug. That was kind of chilling. After that, I put neodymium magnets on the oil filter as well.
They still used them in the higher trim 2021 Tucson. 2022 uses the new 2.5L. I think the Theta II has finally been retired. Good riddance. In what vehicle did you get that one? IIRC it was a modified Mitsubishi design (way back when) that they modified again to add direct injection.Good riddance.
It was part of that Global Engine Alliance with Chrysler and Mitsubishi. From what I read on it (not much) the initial design was Hyundai’s. Chrysler called their version of the 2.4L “tiger shark”.IIRC it was a modified Mitsubishi design (way back when) that they modified again to add direct injection.
Kia Sportage up and including the 2022 model year had the 2.4/2.0T. Pretty sure Stinger had ThetaII 2.0T in 2021 and Genesis still uses the 2.0T still. In what vehicle did you get that one? *Is 5W40 shown in the owners manual as an acceptable oil grade ? ... In my 2017 2.4L GDI , I run a 5W330 synthetic with a CsT in the 10 ~ 11 range as 5W30 / 10W30 are sshown in the OM as approved - thus I go with the thicker allowed 5W30 synthetics (i.e. QSUD , M1 or Valvoline Advanced / EP) .
