10 years of moving the truck around the yard, it was time to change the oil that smelled like gasoline.
Tomorrow the same on a 327 hottie in a 82 Chev monster truck, but it has only been sitting for 6 years or so.

The RDX is such an easy change. Always 5 qts out, 5 qts in, easy access to the filter. The SAABs always take more level-checking.

Vehicle has a history of neglect by the previous (female) owners. Had lots of sludge when I bought it and required a head rebuilt and a new timing chain @ barely 108.000km. I am running very short OCIs to clean her up.

When I got out the oil filter, I found this nice thing on the baseplate (had not yet entered through the entrance holes). One side rough textured as shown in the picture, the other side smooth and shiny. Not sure whether carbon or varnish. It is semi-brittle - can be bend a bit before it breaks.




So far for "don't be afraid, there is no blocks of junk braking of and wandering through your engine, new oil will just gently dissolve the deposits..."

Have filled a sample for UOA and have saved the filter for a c&p.
