I think you should stick with what you are doing. Keeping an older car with higher miles is nice, but if you have an older car with higher miles and it doesn't burn oil = you must be doing something right.

If you try extending it or putting additives or constantly changing things up and around you might give it an opportunity to burn oil. Then you would have ruined a beautiful thing.

Thanks! I am lucky it does not burn oil. I will continue what I am doing.

I would change it every 6 months or 5000 miles which ever comes first.

If I go this route will I need a different oil filter? I currently use a PureOne or bosch which ever is on sale.

It's my cousins car, hes tired of watching it eat oil since it ate 2 quarts during that OCI. Same price the QSUD, so its worth a try. I think its a little too thick for the Civic though, car feels sluggish now.

Nice to see a fellow member who is from BC

Where are you located? I'm in Delta and have the same engine as your cousin.. but have the JDM version though( 2010 Acura CSX Type-S).. i have been using RP HPS 5w30 ever since i got the car 3 yrs ago and car is already at 122k km and so far i have no problems with burning oil.. i got the car when it was around 43k km .. so now its at 122k km.. i have never added oil in between OCI... i usually just follow the MM of the car.. so roughly every 6-7k km... i usually check my oil once in awhile and if i remember correctly when my oil life was at around 50% .. i checked my dipstick and the oil was still in between the top and bottom dots of the dipstick which means that my oil level is still good...

2 qts top up is a lot ... maybe try the RP HPS 5w30 and see if that would help his k20 not burn as much ... only have short ram intake with throttle body spacer with flashpro(running the fp basemap) and hfp muffler on the car..

Out - dealer oil/filter
In - MB 5W-30 229.52 spec oil/MB fleece filter (Still under extended warranty - don't want to give them an excuse)

1992 Chevy Suburban 350, 116,500 miles, Bosch Distance+ filter, Quaker State regular stuff 10w-30. I found the filter at Walmart for 3 bucks each and bought seven. I hate to admit it, but I had Walmart change my oil. I actually trust the guys at my local Walmart. They do use the boxed Quaker State though. What is it?

I think it was a typo cause all I've know you for is Mobil1 20 weight.

Yes.
The reason is I started getting a clacking noise from the area around the front of the engine. So the first thing I did was to change the oil and filter. I put on a Fram Ultra, but no change in the noise. After checking the clacking noise out with a mechanics stethoscope, I eliminated a valve or chain issue. After going to You Tube I found videos of intake manifolds with flap valves that can get loose and make the clacking noise my engine is making. After checking the intake manifold with the stethoscope the noise was coming from the #1 intake flap valve. Next is getting it fixed.
