Wow 17,000 km OCI.
I'm yet to breach 9,000 km OCI with an HDEO CI4/SL.

Thanks Zeng, that is the second time that engine went 6 months @ 3,000 km per month.
I forgot to post 2013 1500 5.3L SLT 10% over OLM, 14,000 km also with Duron 15W40 CJ-4.

I have a hankerin' to try 10W30 FA-4 in a new 6.2L max-trailer SLT.

When CJ-4 replaced the high SAPS CI-4+, I was hesitant to switch, but after a few UOAs... stuck with the new and never looked back.

2002 F150, 187,000 on truck, ~140,000 on motor, 3,400 miles on oil (7 months, lots of short trip driving)

Out: Carquest Red (Fram made) Filter with Valvoline NextGen 5w-20 (3 qts), Pennzoil Platinum 5w-20 (3 qts), and 2 qts of PP² added during the OCI (PP² is what I call the Pennzoil Platinum I drained from the Scion @ 5000 miles and still has some life left as a top off oil).

In: Supertech ST2 oil filter and 6 qts Havoline HIght mileage 5w-20.

Duron 15W40 CJ4/SM(?) seems very robust ... I would've tried a CJ4 if not for its price.
Btw, what's your intended OCI for this 'lower spec' Mobil 1330 SAE 30 ?

Zeng;
I don't view mono grades like 1330, Delo 400 or Duron SAE 30 (20W30s) as "lower spec" engine oils.
Chevron publishes their add packs, have a look at Delo 400 30 & 40. Duron is P 1000, Z 1100.
Delo 15W30, a virtual SAE 30 is 1200/1200 Z&P.

Typically these mid-sap mono's cost more than comparable 15W40s. High SAPS' mono's like Mobil 1630 & 40 are expensive.

My intention was not to run over the OLM, but such is life. Previous UOAs on both HDEO mono & multis' told me not to worry.

Userfriendly , by 'lower spec' in assessing intended OCI, I meant to say:

a )Mobil 1330 SAE 30 is HDEO with basic SAE CF/SF classifications only ; in relatives terms to:

b )Petro Canada Duron E 15W40 HDEO that comes with higher performance SAE CJ-4/SM classifications with various OEM approvals from Mack/Cummins/Caterpillar/Volvo etc.

....granted 1330 SAE30 has higher sulfated ash content and TBN etc.

JMHO.

I don't think the target consumer of mono-grade engine oils care much about API classifications or licensing.
They are industrial work horses, far too good for the masses.

Surely by now, most of you can look at an engine oil spec and figure out what it can and cannot do without the API telling you.
Why license mono's or 15W40 for any spark ignition classification when no OEMs specify those grades?

Ok, here is a laugh for some of you.

This is a first completely unbranded brand oil for me,
I changed the oil in our 2012 Mazda Skyactiv and 2008 Durango.

I used Motorcraft filter on the Durango, forgot what brand on the Mazda.

Both vehicles I used "Certified 5/30" SN convectional oil from Sams Club. $1.90 a quart. To entertain myself and everyone else I may choose to do a UOA in a few months.
Hey, its a SN oil, produced by respected Warren Oil and I know the UOA will be no different then an oil at 5 times the cost..more so with my short OCIs of 5k or less.
