Nissan Versa Note 2014 300005 miles. Changing on Nissans severe use schedule. I change before the 3750 mile suggestion so this fell on pretty much even 30000. 3000 miles x 10 oil changes. Keeps the math simpler. With the Versa having low capacity oil sump I am not a big fan of leaving just over 3 quarts in for much longer. It is getting pretty dark looking right around 2800 miles. That little 1.6 liter engine works hard. I want to keep oil fresh in it.

Out Pennzoil Premium 5w30 with Purolator filter. Had a stash of those filters and then they developed their questionable reputation. Figure low OCI will be fine. Decided Premium was over kill for such short OCI so...

In Pennzoil Gold 5w30 and Microgard filter. After getting rid of Purolator stash I will be using Microgard or ST filters for this car due to really short OCI.

Owners manual says car takes 3.75 quarts of oil. I measured perfect amount to dump in. Wow, I still put in to much. Had to crawl under and remove drain plug to get out a bit of oil. Next time I will put in 3.25 quarts and check it like I had been doing it.

Just changed my Cruze turbo - it only holds 4.2 - and ran it 6500 miles on Mobil 1 bought on sale ...
(18% on OLM) ...
Doubt that cost anymore - or was any less in terms of protection ...

2007 Sonata 2.4L 132,489 miles ... OEM Hyundai filter part num 26300-35503 and M1 0w20 EP oil. First time ever using a 20 weight. It just felt wrong.

2011 Ford Taurus sel 3.5L V6

Out: QSAD 5W20 and MC FL500s

In: Pennzoil Platinum (pure plus) 5W20 and K&N HP-2011 filter

I had no plans to buy a $12.58 oil filter but I went into my little walmart late at night and couldn't find the usual FL500S. They were also out of all versions of the Fram 10575. There was one K&N (for my application) on the shelf so I grabbed that. It felt heavier before use than the FL500 feels loaded with oil. I found a thread where Jim Allen said the K&N's efficiency is somewhere between the basic filters and the top of the line filters. Not the best, but reasonable I guess.

Since I tried a new filter, I decided to see what the Pennzoil Platinum was all about, too. My engine has never used any oil but I'm curious to see if the Platinum drops on the stick as others have noted when first trying it out.

IMO....you are under-utilizing PP at only 4180 miles. That oil should go at least 7500 mile and even more.

QSUD is another excellent syn which I'm using now, and should be able to do 7500 easy.

Also, you might consider using a top-shelf filter like a Fram Ultra (2x7500) or Fram Tough Guard, to get top-notch filtration.

2010 Chrysler Sebring Touring with 2.4L engine. Out with Penn. Platinum 5w20, and in with fresh Platinum 5w20. Left the Fram Ultra filter on this change. Changed it at 6982.4 miles, and it dropped just about a half quart of oil. I forget the total mileage, but it's just a little over 140k now.
