2021 Crosstrek Sport, 48410 miles. Last oil change on 27Sep2024 at 42867 miles. Miles on oil = 5536
  1. Out: Mobil 1 Euro ESP 0w30 plus 300 mL LiquiMoly MoS2 and Fram Ultra XG7317 oil filter.
  2. In: Castrol Edge Extended Performance 5w30 and Fram Ultra XG7317 oil filter
  3. Extra: Performed a drain and fill of CVT fluid; used Subaru CVTF-III fluid. Drained ~4.8 quarts and used ~5.2 quarts including spill to a trickle at 95 deg F, and some minimal wastage. In summary, I believe the originl factory fill volume was perfect. Fluid that drained appeared clean, but teal/greenish (closer to CVTF-II color) rather than the CVTF-III blue.

^^Yeah^^
In the first picture, the pointy thing is on its side and the oil isn't flowing.
What does the red pointy thing do?
Also, is stability the reason you bought it?

SEDY 18 piece oil funnel set

Good catch, the red piece is a plastic “pyramid” that you can put a one quart bottle on to keep it centered while it pours out, the pyramid loosely fits over the drain in the bottom of the funnel. It also has a filter to catch any big debris that might be in the bottle or more likely something that inadvertently falls in the funnel like the foil seal on some oil bottles. Unfortunately the little red pyramid holder/filter falls over sometimes when you pour the oil in out of a 4 or 5 quart jug which is what happened in the picture. I put it back upright before draining the oil.

An overfill??

I recommend you immediately have the dealer quote a short block!!!

Wife's CRV takes 4.2qts. I do 5. Whenever I fill it, it is never full at 4.2 and that is with putting a little into the filter. My Impreza same thing; 4.6 and I do 5. Now, if I did 6 or more...

Miles on oil and miles on vehicle?… please
My 2011 Forester has 158,9XX miles on it, engine has 94,9XX on it (I replaced the engine with a used engine out of a wrecked 2016 Forester last year due to the early FB25 oil burning issues).

Last OCI had 3,914 miles on it. It’s not my main vehicle, used more for winter with the snow.

2017 Honda Accord Sport 2.4
422,028 miles
Out-Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage 5w30 (mostly) Honda oil filter
In-Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage 5w30 3quarts, 1.4 Redline 0w30, XG7317
Added Gumout All in One PEA and QT 87e0

Using last four quarts of Redline PAO Non Slip Cvt Fluid this weekend 😢 then on to Torco. My gut tells me that the Torco is gonna be similar/comparable to Amsoil but Im think 🤔 it wont be like HPL/Redline basestock quality or performance but only time will tell. Regardless, I still will treat it decently til she craps out on me.

2017 Accord 2.4L 6MT, 4770 on oil, 126.2k on motor.
Out -CQP 84356, 4.5 qts of Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20.Had to add 1.5qts during the OCI, it was about 1/8 quart off the full mark.
In - Carquest EP P84356, 4.5 qts of Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20.

It dry/sunny with light breeze. Totally different than day before and forecast. Only issue was it was 30F. today and raining for the next week. I was going to wait until next week, I have a 200+ mile round trip this weekend that would have put me closer to my plan. My son is upstate and from sound of it, one of his CV joints/axles is on the way out. He has 600 miles to go to VA from where he is, 500 from my moms. So we are going to swap cars, he'll take mine to VA and then back at Christmas. I'd rather get his fixed up here at my shop than try a place he has no history with in VA. With trips minimum would be at least 1200 miles before I could get to it again. No concern on the oil handling that, I'm just trying to keep to the 5k's and not doing UOA on this one yet anyway.

So round 2 of Valvoline Restore and Protect is in. Filter I will try to leave for 2 and see how that looks when cut open. Filter should have no issues, me on the other hand....

Took advantage of the oil I bought on the Castrol rebate. 2014 T&C with 112,615 on the vehicle and 7,467 on this change. It's been about 10-1/2 months. I decided to change the oil early before our trip to Florida next Friday for 3 weeks. Cost for this change was $19.75.

Out: Citgo Full Synthetic High Mileage 5w30 and MO349 filter
In: Castrol Edge 5w30 and MO349 filter

I cut the filter to look for any metal like @wwillson had on his Durango. I didn't see any so we will motor on.
