Perfect on a nice spring day
Back in beautiful Fairfield/Suisun City at Heretic Brewing. First up tonight, “Worry”, a Belgian Tripel that’s then aged in Chardonnay barrels and served unpasteurized and unfiltered. Nice color, taste is ok if you enjoy hints of Chardonnay. 10.6%, drinks very smooth. Probably the first of several Heretic updates this evening…

Here’s more:Real beer; no watered down fake stuff. I’d try that.![]()
Note to self/prospective Forgotten Oasis drinkers: let this beer warm up for 15-20 mins from the pour (IOW, it needs to be ~70*F) and it really unleashes the cherry notes and flavor. After talking with the manager (trying to get them to buy ceramic-decorated growlers from our company) I resumed drinking this and it went from decent to amazing! The extra temp really allowed the cherry nose to come into its own, and the taste changed as well, for the better. Wish I had time to try it room-temp, as I prefer Urban Artifact “The Gadget”, to maximize its sour impact and fruit nose & taste.Heretic’s “Forgotten Oasis”, a barrel-aged sour with cherry and hibiscus. Gorgeous red color, great nose with a hint of the sour, and a really light, crisp taste for 7.5%. Tastes almost like a Juicy Juice cherry (for those of you with grandkids and juice boxes!) and does not have the typical sour bite; it’s more in the nose than the taste. This drinks with almost no ABV bite and only nose and taste… it’d be a great summer shade sipper. I’d definitely rank this one in the low 90s… if you can get this and like mid-hi ABV with a sour nose but cider-crisp taste, this is a winner!
