Post your Gas Mileage : Calculated

2018 Mercedes E300 in my sig. Just took a trip to Pgh and back. I95 to Raleigh NC to pick up Brother, overnight in Durham NC, on to West Mifflin PA the next day via I77/I79/ and rt 19/ PA 43. Three days of short trips visiting family in PA. Back the same route, 2258 miles. Cruise normally set on 85, short passing runs @ 90+, several accident stoppages, much road construction, many slowdowns, and horrible traffic. Not to mention the mountains in Virginia and WV.

75.235 gallons of mostly premium, but I did accidently put about 8 gallons of regular in at one stop since Chevron decided to switch the order of the products around on their pump.

Works out to 30.01 MPG! Which I feel is outstanding for this vehicle. Currently 22,569 miles on odometer.

HAH, 414 miles on 8.7 gallons, so 47.6 mpg.
This tank was about half highway and the AC was on for its entirety, but still pretty bad.
Worst summer tank I've seen in at least the last couple of years.

Last couple of fill-ups on our 03 Civic and 18 CRV:

Civic: 31.9MPG on 11.899 gals; 31.1MPG on 10.434 gals
CRV: 23.5MPG on 8.454 gals; 25.4MPG on 10.526 gals

The Civic is remarkably consistent, which makes sense since my driving pattern is very consistent (70/30 city/hwy). Here are yearly averages for the past 4 years:
2022: 30.94MPG in 5334 miles
2023: 31.28MPG in 7540 miles
2024: 30.44MPG in 7012 miles
2025: 30.61MPG in 3398 miles (so far)

The CRV is pretty consistent too. 2022 was the outlier, as we had a two week cross-country road trip that bumped its average.
2022: 27.89MPG in 7426 miles
2023: 24.27MPG in 4576 miles
2024: 25.47MPG in 5302 miles
2025: 24.17MPG in 2361 miles (so far)

All-time best tanks (at least 3/4 tank used):
03 Civic: 42.9MPG (453.6 miles on 10.577 gals)
18 CRV: 34.6MPG (351.8 miles on 10.177 gals)

Honorable mention: CRV 36.1MPG (316.6 miles on 8.778 gals) - less than 3/4 tank used.

2025 F150 Powerboost (Hybrid)

This is the sheet I started keeping when we left for South Dakota (from Georgia) on our vacation. All the way up, I let the truck do its own thing and didn't lock out any gears. I intended to experiment with it on flat land when we got into Iowa/South Dakota but nature had other plans. The winds picked up and for about 2 1/2 days we fought 20-30mph headwinds and 104-108 degree temps. Even slowing down to 60-65 didn't do much good.

On the way back the wind was better and I was able to determine the sweet spot to maximize mileage. Lock out 9th/10th and leave it in 8th. That and 70mph got me back up close to 10, which is where the Ranger used to be. Incidentally, that truck rarely went into 9th/10th when towing the trailer, just didn't have the torque to do it. Both trucks have 3.73's for the rear end and in 8th at 70 both end up getting really close to the same mileage. Echos what I've been saying for a while now. We've made drivelines so good these days that it is purely physics dictating fuel burn. Takes a certain amount of energy to move the rig a certain distance at a certain speed. Doesn't matter if it is an I4 TGDI, V6, or V8, they're all doing the same work and requiring the same amount of fuel.

Heckofa break-in for the truck though. We left on the trip with a little over 1k on the clock and that truck worked all the way up and back flawlessly.

My first tank through my beater 2002 Sunfire 2.2 ohv, auto. First 1/4 tank it had misfire issues due to the old wires. I drove a mix of gravel, highway and some light city. Each round trip was 30km. 23.6mpg or 9.96L/100km.

Not great but I have a heavier foot with this car and its O2 sensor is a bit erratic.

HAH, 673 miles on 14 gallons, so 48.1 mpg.
About 70% highway with AC blasting for almost the entire tank.
No, it doesn't hold that much. I had splashed in a couple of gallons before this fill since I had a coupon and we would need the additional fuel for the 200 miles trip we took yesterday.
I'd say I guessed pretty well since I put 12 gallons in it today.

Filled the Maverick Hybrid at Phillips 66 w/87octane TT E10 Mostly highway miles with about 1/3 being interstate at 70-75 mph. The current Frankenblend is less efficient on short trips intown. Overall I'm happy.
