mix of highway/city driving w/AC on; I drive in the right lane at or slightly below the speed limit... car has ~55k miles and my running avg mpg since purchase is 42.25mpg

Very nice for a Auto!

I get blasted by a member here that my MPG are not possible. If you know HOW to drive high MPG with "normal" vehicles is very possible!

My last 3 tanks average on 05 Corolla 5 sp is 45.01. A/C on all the time and keeping it below 70 mph most of the time. 112k on the car.

thanks - I've been surprised at the numbers I get; and it's totally dependent on my right foot... if I'm acting like a knucklehead then the numbers drop off quickly!

For the last 14 years my 85 K20 Suburban with a 350, 4 speed manual and 4.10 rear end has consistently averaged 15.2 mpg if I keep it at 60 mph.

2002 3.1V6 Malibu AT driven 23 miles each way daily, mix city & country 29MPG summer, 27MPG winter

On my latest road trip (mandated by New Orleans "leadership") to escape Gustav, to and from Birmingham, AL:

Alabama and Mississippi both do the 10% ethanol thing. When I saw that, I dropped the idea of going for a fuel economy record with the Buick, and didn't fill up while in B'ham or when leaving. But I did tank up in Meridian, MS, and then refilled today, for 28.5 mpg over some 211 miles. Darned good for a big V6-powered sedan, traveling 65-70 through rolling hills with the cruise and A/C on, one human passenger, four feline passengers in light carriers, and two middle-sized suitcases. On ethanol gas, too.

(Side note: On PP 5W-30, over 4600 miles, I've had to add a bit more than a quart of topoff oil. If this doesn't decrease with the PP I've bought for the October-April OCI, I'll entertain plans to go back to conventional oil.)

With the new engine I am getting 14.8

Bill,

Its that high altitude, thin air that helps your Corolla get awesome gas mileage.

We have a 2007 Civic Ex (5 speed) and it normally breaks 40 MPG, I just wished that Hondas had a taller 5th gear.

I think the Toyota's do get better MPG over the Honda's. I drove my Dad's 2001 Civic coupe and the best I could get with it was 43 mpg.

The last tank on my Corolla I decided to get gas @ 452 miles and it took 10.2 gal. (44.31)

That is driving 70 mph (about 2750 rpm) and 15% around town (but little stop and go, just slow

)

I get pretty close to the same MPG down in lower areas (like San diego) but only if I use the gas I got in Las Vegas. California gas knocks off 10% easy.

Take care, bill

I was getting 26 to 27 in the Jetta turbo. I've been working through an ARX treatment, currently a few hundred miles into the clean phase. Since the beginning of the ARX, my mileage has crept up, currently it's around 28 to 29.

With this turbo engine, I've noticed that my city mileage doesn't vary much from highway mileage. Only 1 or 2 mpg difference between the two.

25.5 mpg suburban back road stop and go commute. No freeway driving for months.

How about on the odyssey? Thinking of getting one of these.

I don't track the Ody as closely.

2006 Honda Odyssey 6 cyl 3.5L
41k miles. ~1k on current OCI 5W-20 Amsoil Racing oil

20-22 mpg, driven from cold like a bat out of Hades. Some freeway driving (10%) at 70mph+. Mostly driven 1-5 miles full of people and junk, floored when cold. Oil never checked.

No. I was a bit chicken of that system. I guess it's working OK, but I have not researched it since.

That van is heavy, it's not a small vehicle. It hauls [censored] and PEOPLE (7 or 8 easy) and holds a LOT with rear seat down and center row removed. 20-22 mpg the way we use the thing is pretty darn good IMHO.

I drove one a few weeks ago. It felt exactly like an Acura 3.2TL minivan. I was very impressed. Especially because I drove it after the new dodge. There is just no comparison.

Took my 07 fit with 1 occupant and 150lbs worth of load up and down I-5 this weekend (about 280miles 1 way) to a friend down south.

1st tank (20% city, 80% hiway, with 20% out of the hiway travelling with AC on, 30mins of traffic standstill due to accidents, never goes beyond 110kms/hr unless overpassing, etc.) avg. 5.7l/100kms (or roughly 42miles/US gal). Return trip: 40% AC on, 100% hiway, maintain speed around 95kms/hr (60mles/hr), no overpassing, mostly staying on HOV lane, same load, etc.), got 5.228l/100kms or 45.68miles/gal.

Engine now has clocked 11,000kms to date (approx. 7000miles) since new.

Boy! am I ever so happy with my 1.5L M/T fit!
