02 Volvo S40 - 32 freeway (premium).

08 Volkswagen GTI DSG (in break in period)

34 mpg avg hwy at 55 mph

30 mpg avg hwy at 70 mph

25 mpg worst hwy driving hard

With my truck(chevy 2500) 305, filled tank, drove to philly on PA NE extension to show. Drove back same way same manner, averaging 55 on the level, 60 down hills. Went to same pump and filled up. 30.74 MPG on a truck rated 17-18 on highway. Easy does it and patience works.

First post.

94 Accord lx 2door: 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway
99 Civic EX sedan: 24 mpg city, 38 mpg highway

1992 Buick Roadmaster - 296,000 miles on original Chevy 350 TBI system. 17.5 around town, 19 mixed. Up to 24 on the highway.

On a recent 400 mile round trip from coastal NH to northern VT we achieved an average of 27MPG with our manual tranny 2005 Subaru Legacy GT(turbo) wagon going 70MPH on highway inc hills.

The car normally achieves 23MPG in mixed driving (40c/60h).

I was impressed with the 27MPG given it is derated by EPA at 17 city/23 highway.

2007 Toyota Avalon with 3.5 V6. Recent trip from Texas to Las Vegas. Roundtrip was 31.2 avg. Of course mostly highway in 70-75 mph range with cruise control. Best tank was eastbound on I-40 across northern Arizona with a great tailwind. 36mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1999 Buick LeSabre, 3.8 V6. ~130 miles from Columbia SC to Bluffton SC, 65 mph on manual control, 37 MPG. Lights on, rainy and cool.

Return trip, 38 MPG according to the ScanGauge. Again 60-65 MPH with all manual control.

Beats the snot out of EPA 29 MPG highway. Usual tanks at higher speeds are 31-32.

Last 4 tanks in a 2005 Toyota Corolla 5 speed.

About 85% highway and 15% short trip city. Average 70 MPH on the freeway. A/C use most of the time during the day. Temps in the 70s day and 40-50s at night.

46.53
45.99
46.87
46.13

Average over 2313 miles is 46.38

Same gas pump, same time of day and filled 1 notch slower on the pump than max and when the pump shut off, did not top off.

Tire pressure was 33-34 psi (manual and door jam says 30)

Take care, bill

Corolla guy here also, but with automatic tranny:

75/25% hwy/city on 08 Corolla 1ZZ-FE 1.8L with 7900 miles on it:

Rounded to nearest whole number:

1. 39
2. 36
3. 40
4. 38

Goodyear Integrity tires to exactly 35psi, checked 3x weekly.

Temps: Average of upper 50's daytime and lower 40's at night.

Note**The lower figures are when I break my strict 65 mph rule and the needle climbs to 75 often.

2000 Saturn SL SOHC 1.9L with 5 speed:

60/40% hwy/city Goodyear Assurance Comfort Treds at exactly 35psi checked 3x week. Car has 89,000 on the clock.

Temps same as above.

Mileage over 4 tank fulls:

1. 40
2. 39
3. 41
4. 39

Not bad for 40% city mileage. On road trips at 65mph where I run 1000+ mile trips for work, I consistently measure no lower than 44, and up to 46.

20.24mpg in the city with my 96 Crown Victoria PI.

Switched back to TC-W3 2 stroke from the Lucas UCL and based on my tank reading as well as trip odometer, I'm not expecting to get better than 18mpg on this tank.

'Nuther Corolla guy. '07 LE 5-speed. Driving is probably close to 60% highway, 40% city, but is really truly neither of each. Just a suburban/rural mix of a lot of 35-55 MPH driving. Via a previous car that kept track of AVERAGE MPH via a computer, my drive averages 25-28 MPH (you'd be surprised how much lower your true AVG MPH is than you think it is).

I got 32 MPG with it on my very first tank (bought it in July). Since, I've seen my mileage creep up to be consistently in the 34-35 MPG range. My MPG actually jumped with the new Avid TRZ tires, and even inflated to only 31 PSI vs. 35 PSI I had in the OE Bridgestones. Impressive. A/C takes about 10% in this car. When I use A/C the whole time, I'm at about 33 MPG. Without it, I'm in the 35-36 MPG range.

Almost 20,000 miles on the vehicle. I run PP 5W-20 in the crank and stock lube in the transaxle. I plan to drain that in favor of Redline MT-90 this winter.

I got in the low 30's on my first few tanks as well, but this car has consistently crept up an mpg or two over time. I don't know how you drive, but I do not drive the in the city above 2000 or so rpms (basically like pretending there is an egg under the gas pedal). That helps me immensely to get the higher mileage.

Only reason I ever go above 2400rpm is for a once-weekly "italian tune-up". I have an auto FYI. I drive it like a baby. My dealer was actually pretty shocked I got 38mpg US on a 80% city run.
