If I can get close to half a million miles, then I can make the statement that I have traveled the distance to the Moon and back. I believe it's roughly 238,900 MI from Kansas to the Moon. I think the farthest point of the Moon is 267,000 MI. I I figure it 500,000 it's probably time to not get rid of the car but certainly not ask anything else of it as far as taking us long distances with little failures and letdowns. I figured by the time I get close to 500,000 it's going to need on a full-time basis a 10w30 full synthetic high mileage along with a pint of Schaeffer's 132 Moly.

Or, you could try HPL No VII PCMO 10w20 and skip the hi-mi and voodoo juice…

On a serious note though, why would you think your 2018 needed that stuff? Just curious.

It’s only half of @Revving2Redline’s odo shot, but it is an 2007 Impreza with an EJ253 on the original factory head gaskets… at 200k officially!

My son’s 2002 WRX is still on the original head gaskets too! He’s approaching 400,000 km now. He sent me this odometer pic a few weeks ago:

That’s a 2.0 right (EJ205)? Those and the EJ255/257s are both closed-deck designs AFAIK (@Trav?), and do not suffer anywhere near as badly as the EJ251/253s did.

One has to wonder which engineer got fired for that design error, saving about $17 per car in aluminum for a 60% failure rate, and an eternity of infamy on the internet! It was probably Steve Bartman (shoutout to Cubs fans, sufferers of every infamy and internet myth as well…)!
