Post milestone or just plain fun odometer pics!

The Corolla hitting 50,000 on the way to Cottonwood, AZ the other day. The drive there is nice, much more going on than Phoenix area freeways

Thanks, we like it alot. We've put 25K on it since last July!

Nothing special - just 2 pics of the dash/gauges of my 2005 BMW 330Ci ZHP: (I like having the time displayed in the 24-hr format, and enjoy having RDS on the radio)-
the radio/climate control display is NOT yellow lettering on red background like pics suggest - it's just a brighter red on light red - idk why the pics show the letters as yellow - must be the camera not being able to catch the red/red contrast correctly.

Finished metricating my 2006 Golf yesterday - finally got a Canadian gauge face swapped into my stock US cluster. I recoded the odometer into kilometers & 24 hour clock a couple years ago, along with my GPS. Now I've got KPH on the big ring (mph still available on the inner ring) and temperature in °C.

The scangauge has boost pressure (bar), fuel economy (km per gallon), intake temperature post-intercooler (°C, currently switched out for KPH to assist with needle alignment) and coolant temperature (°C).

Didn't swap in a Canadien cluster - only the gauge faces. Swapping gauge clusters in mk4 VWs is a real PITA, swapping the gauge faces takes about 5 minutes with a T20 & T10 driver.

Anyway, I did the swap because I'm a firm believer in the metric system. There's only three countries in the world still using the US customary system, and we're the only industrialized nation. Shameful, really. Unless we all start using it frequently we'll never get over the 'I don't want to switch because I only know the customary system' attitude. So I'm using it as much as I can.

Yeah, sucks growing up here. I dont have any reference for what, for example 73C really is. I know 100C is 212F, 0C is 32F, and -40C is -40F, but most anything else I have to convert.
I actually have the conversion memorized because Celsius comes up pretty often.

It's funny because I try to forget the metric system for most of the stuff I do up here, like when I'm figuring out my weight, it's in pounds, not kg. Or my height, I still say it in feet/inches, not cm (in fact I don't know anyone up here that tells people their height in cm or their weight in kg!) And when I'm driving my Corvette I always switch the gauges over to imperial (they default to metric when you shut off) because I understand the temperatures and pressures much better in imperial than I do in metric, especially something like tire pressure or oil pressure, I know what 30psi is, but have no clue what 250kpa is!

Funny you should mention that. I have a digital tire gauge ($9 Slime-branded) that shows psig, kPa & bar - and I inflate my tires to 265 kPa.

km/gallon won't get you very far though. the correct one to use is L/100km. having grown up in metric, the imperial system does feel more "natural" - the measures are based on human dimensions more than just arbitrary scientific definitions. metric is simpler mathematically though.
